OPINIONS SOUGHT ON THE COST I SHOULD PAY BUYING A CAMS READY FORD TX3 AWD 1.8 DOHC TURBO

Hi Guys
as I've never had much to do with this car, I was wondering what anyone thinks of this MONETARY WORTH of a Ford TX3 AWD (KF Laser) 1.8 DOHC Turbo with Full Cams Regio and never having been crashed.  Engine fully rebuilt only 100 kms ago. Transfer Case rebuilt less than 1000kms ago.  4 NEW SEMI SLICKS just fitted before one circuit of Phillip island Race Track.  Have test driven and all facets function well. Turbo Boost set on 12 pounds (from the 8 set at factory). No rust and no fatigued/worn steering or suspension. I give the Body 9/10. The Interior and Trim 9/10. Comes with genuine RWC and is still road registrable.(if we ignore the semi-slicks!). Also has Alarm/Immobilizer. Full Race 4 point Harness in Drivers Racing seat. Half Rollover cage. All Cams approved. No radio. No Air Con. No Pow Steer. Electric Mirrors.
My only criticism (after being spoilt with the power of my D Port V6 Capri) is that it didnt "pull" or excite me like my Capri.
I know the TX3 is only 1.8 litres, but it is EFI and Turboed !

Hope to hear as many opinions as poss soon as the seller is keen to sell..............thanks guys

NEW versus OLD .... AND SAVING MONEY according to "MOI" & MHO

One way Im saving money is not buying a new car every 5 years like the majority, which means those "drunken sailors" in all 3 Gov Tiers wasting our BILLIONS on futile dead end projects arent getting their money off me from all the fees, taxes and charges that go with every new car, and the insult from Simsmetal of 50c x kilo for your car when the yard doesnt want it as a trade in, or the "pulled wool over the eyes" when the caryard fools you into believing your getting a fabulous deal when you trade up, just to see it back on the lot for DOUBLE what they reckon was its max worth 5 minutes ago.
My last Brand new car was 1988 Toyota HJ61 Turbo Diesel 5 sp manual.........the only failure in all those years was the turbocharger needed a re-build in 2008 after 20 years!  .....which cost $260 as I fitted it myself. ...... Air Con is still like Mt Hotham in winter!
My darling wife bought a 30k 3 month old Prado V6 Petrol in 2001, for $36k instead of $56k (saved $20G in 5 mins!), and in 16 years has only done a lower Rad Tank req a whole new Rad even tho rad core was perfect, plus the elec aerial has morphed into a manual, plus Air Con Pump failed. See, 13 years newer, yet not quite as tough as the HJ61 TD ! I'm not complaining.
Toyotas are the last word in "BULLET-PROOF" as far as I'm concerned.

Changing Mineral oil Engine oil and Filter every 5,000kms or 12 months is "money in the bank" if you want them to last, or if you must use it, (which should NOT apply to any pre 2007 cars) Full Synthetic & filter every 10,000kms................
Brake Fluid flush/change MAX of 2 years regardless of distance..............
Diff/s and G/box and Transfer every 60,000k or Auto every 30,000k drain/refill............

All my 9 cars that were meant to run on leaded "Super" have been getting 2 stroke Super Outboard Oil (SOO)  at 200:1 with none suffering engine damage in 20 years.   Castrol Chief Chemist reckoned if the Philip Island Superbikes and Racing Outboard Marine Engines that spin 4 or 5 times faster than car engines, thrive well on SOO, then all leaded Super & Standard petrol cars on our highways will too..............it appears he was right.............. only with highly stressed track cars did he recommend lead replacement additive as well as the SOO.

Hope this helps

CAPRIS CORTINAS & ESCORTS IN NUMBERS AT BP BAXTER LAST SAT NITE~ALBEIT FREEZING COLD !

Hi all

Peta's lovely pink Capri V6 was very welcome last Sat nite, along with all the usual "suspects" inc me and my Wild Plum Capri

V6,  to BP Baxter last Sat nite , even tho it was "cold enuf ta freez the balls outa mi water pump bearings"!

It was a great turnout with more Capris and Escorts than Ive ever seen at Baxter; and I go 9/10 Saturdays if not 10/10.

When the cold got too much to bear, Ian made a great suggestion we all go indoors for Coffee & Munchies.

The weather is just gunna get better from here on, so we'll look forward for more and more EnFo's eh ?

If Peta could handle coming all the way from Beaconsfield, then it should be a cinch for the rest of us.

DONT FORGET FIRST TUE NITE OF THE MONTH EVERY MONTH AT REAR OF BUNNINGS MORNIGTON VIA BUNGOWER ROAD FOR "LETS GO CRUIZIN" WITH ALL MAKES & MODELS WELCOME

Both venues are usually just a Gold Coin donation for something very worthy re Fireys or Charity

CARING FOR OUR CARS IN THE GARAGE ; and saving time & money while you're at it

Any car in garage storage, IMHO, should be totally covered in NEW Pure Wool unwashed blankets ideally almost to the floor. Ideally, a tailor-made Cover out of these new Blankets would make short work of "on/off time", but I still haven't done it. Would save time draping blankets one blanket at a time.
The natural lanolin is a perfect rust inhibitor, as I have found whilst storing cars for the last 30 years, and highly recommended by several auto experts when I was young lad, and also more recently in middle age.
I always drape my weekly/monthly collectables too, as this obviates the need to wash the car more than 1-2 times per year, as the blankets keep the car eternally clean. The 1-2 times a year is also via "dry-cleaning" as detailed next.
If a weekly or monthly outing results in light soiling, "dry cleaning" with a body cloth and weak car-wash followed by a chamois constantly rinsed in clean water, seems to work really well, and avoids water ingress into areas you have no way of drying.
Moreover, pure wool blankets always used the same way up, are the least likely of all to scratch your finish.
A good thrashing of the blankets whenever time and weather permits, will keep them from collecting excess soil caused by airborne dust and fly-poo and spider-poo.
The blankets have definitely saved some of my stored & every-day cars from "little accidents" in the garage

Apparantly this procedure is recommended for any finish; old or modern paint chemistry

Spotto

Just spent a week in the Margaret river/ south west region of WA. Classic car culture is alive and well. Can't remember seeing so many cars of varying makes, ages and models. The veteran car meets for a drive day monthly and the Hotrod/ street machine club is huge.
This took the cake though. A little 100e van parked up with the Rod club.
Out of place with the big boys maybe?
Not with a small block windsor V8 stuffed into it! What a machine...
Cheers Drew
