Raw Orange 78 mk2 load lugger saved from the bin

This van has been sitting in my shed for approximately 7yrs waiting in line for it's turn to be repaired.
At the time I was working in a factory and a guy asked if I'd like to look at the van before he scraps it, so when I got there I noticed a few options from factory I thought it's a worthy fix. Not knowing it's year as the bonnet was locked I must asked how much, he replied scrap value is around $400 so I jumped on it, that weekend I helped get the it rolling and on the drive for the trailer ready for the long 3km trip home. Renting a trailer cost more than a tow truck so went that option.
Once its home I did have second thoughts as I have plenty of other cars to do but this van was crying for a second chance. The body is really straight but has the expected rust in the bulkhead and floors plus the left side sill is rotting away. It came with an original front spoiler but it's been cut at the arches. The Volenti wheels are factory, as is the tacho dash, the full head liner and rear spare wheel bar.
Plan is to turn it into a sundowner clone which I should've done with the yellow lugger I had a while ago , lesson learned as usual, vans come with a bunch of spares in the back, this one has a lot of engine and gearbox stuff plus roof racks etc, I have also used it for a storage box over the years and might find some goodies later on.

I won't be fully starting this van for a little while as the mk1 is still priority and the rally pack but just want to log from start to finish, who knows I might start a YT on it .
Plans will be to obviously pinto it, maybe zetec but keep it subtle on the mods, I have Recaro seats waiting for it and an RS steering wheel .
One thing I noticed is it has 2.0 axles with the extra centre hub support, being a 1600 I found it odd unless it's for the alloy wheels , the diff is still very tight with minimal slack bonus and the best bonus is a quick rack, that made my day when I realized that !

And inside is just a basket case at the moment with panels from smcka before he sold the business.

Apart from years of storage dust it's great on the outside but being around these cars long enough to know it ain't all champagne and roses

First job after dusting it down is too empty the contents and then get it on the rotisserie, if any of you hawk eye watchers have noticed, I now have a hoist so it makes working on them so much more better, well it's been there over a year now.

When I used to drive my mk2 Escort Mexico replica around, I had a person hit the rear of it quite decently when at the traffic lights which prompted me to get a full respray done while there at the crash shop, I swapped the bonnet out for a better one and kept the old bonnet for just in case situation like using it on the van to keep weather out.

The tango orange is like red to the raw orange , plus the mk4 Escort RS turbo vents were a after thought as I doubt the bonnet will be used again, I cut holes and was going to mount underneath so they are less pronounced , maybe I'll put it back on the mk2 Mex..
