New temp sensor

Hi guys, lost my temp gauge a couple days ago, got a new temp sensor and put it in today. Now my gauge is reading a little on the high side...?

Prior to my old one failing completely, the gauge would sit around 1/3 of the gauge but would often drop down to cold when driving (despite new thermostat). Whether this sensor ha been failing for a while and giving me 'lower' readings im not sure. What do people's gauges sit at? 1976 mk2 1600 auto..
Here's a pic of my gauge. Should i be worried? Doesn't smell hot..
