Resto Starting on 1979 rs2000 mK11 - NEED HELP

New to this site and need a little advice/help.
I have just purchased a 1979 RS2000 4 door. It has the original Pinto engine etc..
I am going to do a full resto on the car. The engine is now out along with the gearbox, interior etc.. And it is off for panel and paint. I want to rebuild and work the engine. Does anyone know off a good performance parts supplier in Perth and a really good escort mechanic in Perth??
Thanks

Hey Diesel nice to hear of another RS find in perth, what colour is it?
I've used Racetune and Escort road and race and would recommend both although there are plenty of good engine shops in the industrial areas north to south that can build a stout pinto....
Theres only a couple of other local suppliers of soft trim, most of it will come from the net....
Pm me and I'll pass on any help I can.......
    Cheers Drew...............

    Hey drewdog,

Maybe you can help me, I'm looking a buying a worked 2l pinto engine but the seller doesn't know the much about the build, all he can tell me is that it was built in rockingham by someone called Gary Howe who only does work for a select few people. He reckons it's had head work, bigger valves, race tech cam and is pushing out 180+ bhp. I've attached photos of the engine, it's be sitting in a shed for the last few years.

    Cheers,

    Reddog

bit hard to tell whats been done by the pictures. its whats on the inside that counts..
it takes a bit of work to get a 180+ reliable pinto.
surely the seller has the receipts of what has been done???
you should get the builders number off him and give him a call.

if not, it is on an engine stand, so easy enough to rip the sump off at least and have a look.
I'm always skeptical of buying engines from people that have no idea about them and have not been involved in the build.

    Diesel,
a lot of your parts will come from the net as drewdog said.
here are a few suppliers for browsing:
    Burtons
    Vulcan engines
    Esslinger Engineering
    Millingtons
    Motorscope
    Rally Design
    pegasus racing
    racer walsh
    Tjmotorsport
    Eurospeed
    Gartrac
    palmside
    motorsport tools

there are plenty more, but this will get you started Im sure.

Yeah the seller get the engine some year ago and all he know is that some bloke called Gary Howe built it, I've done a bit of ringing round the Rockingham area and can't see to find anything out about him.

Apart from ERR and Rolly who else in Perth who else is a pinto guru?
