Would have to be a big shed though, would want to buy my mates 4 door Yellow RS2000 thats been hibernation under cover for the last 20 years as well.

I looked at the blue rs 3 years ago when it sold on ebay, compliance plates didnt match chassis number and was riddled with rust, hence seamingly very realistic sale price i guess. I sold a 4 door when an opportunity to buy a matching numbers 2 door presented itself so i agree with others about buying to suit your own preferences and intended use. If you are not in a hurry good examples of both turn up reasonably often. I looked at quite a few before finding one i was happy with. Good luck with the search

Me personally, I steer well clear of any car (especially one you are looking at collecting/restoring) that the compliance plates do not match the chassis number... For ultimate collectability a matching engine number (to the compliance plate AND chassis plate) is desirable by some people. Forget even condition as the most important factor, if something does not smell right - walk away. Last thing you want after spending hundreds of hours and thousands of $$$, is for the sherrif to turn up to reposess a rebirthed car you thought was yours...

If something is too good to be true, it generally is....
The midnight blue rs 2 door on eBay seems like a reasonable buy in standard reasonable condition, providing its compliance plate etc checks out. Seems to be riding a little high in the photos, so either the suspension has been redone, or my recollection of rs heights is of slightly lowered ones (which is possible!)

There were less four doors made, variously reported as somewhere around 800 in total. They were Aus market only too so could possibly be the rarest form of MK2 RS2000s built globally

What about an automatic! Australia was the only place in the world you could buy an auto RS! Wouldn't think there were too many delivered, so one of those would be even rarer!

yeah, I reckon half the autos would have been converted to manual too, so a midnight blue 4 door auto looks to be the collectors diamond in the rough !!!!!!

Don't know exactly how true it is (so take it with a grain of salt), but i remember being advised from one source, all autos were white and either all 2 or all 4 door (can't recall that bit....) and the were only something like 250 or so...

The autos are rare and I have yet to see one in the flesh, but I recall someone on here a few years ago had one they were restoring... The auto tunnel would be a dead giveaway if you were looking for it specifically as it is wider than a manual tunnel....

One young lady on the Northside of Brisbane, loves her White Rs2o0o four door, auto with factory air.
Never to be 'for sale' apparently!
