Steer clear of Mellings oil pumps for 2lt pintos.... I had 2 brand new ones fail on my new engine 10 years ago due to poor materials used in their construction, and my engine builder had a third fail in another of his engines too at the same time. He had some hardness testing done on all three and the pump rotor was harder than the end plate - meaning it burrowed into the end plate in less than 500km ( both) and then over stressed the hex drive, snapping it twice - and the second was a brand new Ford one! The engine builder then did warranty claims on them, but I wouldn't urinate on one given how quickly an expensive engine with NO OIL PRESSURE can turn into a pile of scrap metal.... Since then I have only used original standard Ford pumps....
Have heard that the HC pumps also flow too much oil and literally fill up the head, with not enough oil remaining in the sump at sustained high revs...but that is someone else's story...
Just my 2.2c worth including GST....
