EOI - Parts from UK/Europe

Hi guys,

I've been here in Austria for 3 years now and it's time to come home to Perth.

Being keen on taking the escort to pieces again upon my return, I'm interested in shipping some parts back to Oz.

The missus and I are considering renting out part of a container for our own personal belongings, so I'm looking for expressions of interest here - is anyone after parts which can be sourced in either Vienna, Austria (home 1), Munich Germany (home 2) and the UK (Reachable within 14 hrs).

I am for example, keen on buying a ST170 long motor for myself. If there's enough interest I would even bring back 3 or so blocks - obviously to help pay for the cost of the (part) container.

So let yourself be heard! If this gains momentum then we can talk about the finer details later.

If there is anyone out there with experience with shipping/containers and so forth, please let me know. I currently know buckleys about the whole thing. I imagine I would commission the container from Munich to Perth.

Cheers

Nick

    Hi guys,

    thanks for all the responses.

Right now I cannot calculate freight costs, as I still have to work out my costs and the exact form of transport. Thanks to Steff66 for suggesting Trieste, that would probably be the best way to go about it!

However, it would be good to start drawing up some exact wishes, so I've got an idea of what I have to look out for in the near future. Freight will probably take place in September!

    So, we've had

    ST170 heads and blocks

ST170 conversion bits - be specific

    Tyres/wheels, be specific please

    Type 9 boxes

    Pinto EFI setups

If you have serious interest in any of the above, please post or PM me.

    Cheers to all

    Nick

Alright guys. Thanks once again for all the responses and advice.

Keep in mind, that I will drive from Munich to the UK to collect parts with a van. So although containers are massive things, the amount of parts I can ship back will be limited to a gutted van.

Now that I've seen enough interest in the forum (and got the green light from my lady), I'm going to work out shipping costs to Perth and then I'll start to scout for parts in the UK.

This will happen slowly over the next few months. So please have patience.

Cos I don't have endless pockets, and I want to protect myself from being stuck with parts, I will be asking for payment (part or full) shortly before I head to the UK.

Just to remind you all of the likely timeline - Parts pickup in UK - SEPT, transport to Perth - SEPT. Likely arrival DEC 2010/JAN 2011 (???)

A few questions to those interested...

    * A couple of people have been asking for 205/60/R13s . Are they that hard to find in AUS these days?? If so, looks like I'll be upgrading to 14s when I get back!!

    * Someone mentioned 205 blocks to me. Would bringing back the piston conrods from the 205 be sufficient? Or are there other goodies that make a 205 so special?

    * Zetec conversion parts are definitely on the list... that's something that you wouldn't see in AUS (i think...)

    * Would Kent and Pinto cam kits from the UK (Piper, Burton, Kent etc) be of interest to anyone?

    * I will definitely bring a few Type 9's back. But is there still interest in Pinto EFI setups?

    * I remember reading that Volvo 4 pot calipers are a common brake upgrade for scorts. Is it worth bringing back those calipers from the UK, or can they still be found in AUS?

    Cheers!

    Nick
