Rhys' other Mk2 2dr

Heres my latest project.

Purchased is original matching number condition. Plan was to not veer away from the originality too much.

So far I've upgraded brakes, suspension, engine and exhaust. Fitted an RS wheel and dash, changed rear rims to 7" wide. Fitted front and rear visors.

When I got it

what's happened since

Old Engine

New Engine

Replacement motor before rebuild

Replacement motor 3/4 way through rebuild, setting up to dial cam in

Plans,.... lots of plans but not much execution. Plenty of different intake setups to try but lacking time/enthusiam to get the results.
Will get it dyno tuned and re-jetted with 38DGAS its currently running in the near future. Ideally it needs some quad t/bs.
Would like to keep it as fun and reliable as possible.

Rhys

Looks great Rhys, nice find. Love those rear rims! Have you a got a bowler's hat for the rear parcel shelf?

Nice touches sympathetic to the originality - sort of an un-ratty rat rod style.

what's the future of the 40's? I'm looking for a setup.

escort1600, I have a feeling its called spearmint glaze but will check and get back to you. eBay found me the rims, the were rusty and chrome when I got them. Contemplated getting the fronts re-banded to 7" but probably wont bother.

Simon, a bowlers hat could be a worthy addition all in the theme. I think the idle might upset all that a little though

James, I've always got my eyes peeled, I get bored quickly so always ready for a new one or another one. I'm sure theres still a few around in Vic.

Avon, I sold the webers off, then later bought some reconditioned ones. But the manifold turned out to be incorrect so I don't have a manifold or linkage kit. How soon do you need a pair as if I can get a decent balance of power/driveability from the 38DGAS I won't bother with the webers and they'll be up for grabs.

    Cheers,
    Rhys

    G'Day Dave,
Engines going alright. Tuned pretty tame at the moment. Getting tuned on dyno after Easter. Hopefully that can realise a few hp gains.
Might do the rims one day. I've hung onto a set of 13" semi slicks. Wouldn't mind seeing what times I can get out of it as is at Mallala for a bit of fun.

All dyno tuned and running nicely.
Pulled 76.1rwkws which I'm happy with considering it still runs a downdraught and factory air filter.

Will get some enjoyment out of it now.
