cheers lads.

made it back to the dyno today. made some good progress. made just over 250nm torque and 115hp
there is still more to be had with the ignition system but a good start. sounds wild at 7000 rpm too :)

video of dyno

well after having a check over the engine after the dyno i found that i had set the valve clearances waaay too loose. rookie mistake by me for not checking them again once on the dyno. i was stressing out too much hoping it didnt throw a leg out of bed haha.

clearences are all set now. should behave a bit better now.

cheers

small update.
getting ready to take the esky out to a track day for the first time. ive only driven it up the street once so far so it will be good to get out and start setting things up.
i remade my solid brake lines and got the flares done properly. i had flared all my own lines but had no confidence in them. fitted them up tonight.

also made a plate to mount the bias adjuster to

almost ready to take out. just need tyres and to bleed up the brakes.

in other news i took the other esky out to small ford day. pretty good day and met some nice people. was nice to take it for a blast but it really needs a few things fixed.  when (if) i find time i want to rebuld the motor and change a few things. still it looked good at the show and drove pretty well.

also bought this for $200.

mates brother was just going the scrap it so i grabed it off him. still ran perfecty but the drivers door wouldnt close so it was "wrecked" according to him. its just a stock eb 6cyl but its manual.  me and a mate welded the diff, welded up the engine mounts (they were both snapped) put in a extuingusher and went rally bashing. had a blast. we were the only ones there in a stock car but we still managed to beat a few of the built cars.  best $200 spent ever i rekon

there is another round of rally this sunday in the falcon and the track day saturday in the esky. should be a good weekend

been a while since an update
ive been pretty busy getting my other escort registered. it has passed engineering now and just requires a emissions test and roadworthy now. been alot of work but end is nearly in sight.

the green esky has been on the backburner while all this has been going on but im starting to get back into it.
before all the work started on the other esky i too it out to a track day. was good to actually drive the thing but i had a few issues.

firstly i went to start it for the first session and it decided to strip some teeth off the starter pinion.  typical it would happen then, it had started fine at home everytime and even that morning when loading it on the trailer.
so the car had to be roll started all day. not that the day lasted all that long as it was dropping fuel pressure going thru the fast kink and when at full throttle. so i putted around at 75% trying just get a few laps in to test everything out.
only did about 8 laps before deciding to call it quits. was no point staying out just puttering around.

got it home and ripped the started out to find what the problem of the stripped pinion gears. a few emails were sent and a new one was on it s way which was excellent as the starter itself had only been used a handful of times.

as for the fuel pressure drop, im still using the starndard mk2 tank (no baffles) so fuel was running away from the pickup. even with a full tank.
so i am in the process of organizing a surge tank and fuel pump. would love a fuel cell but cant afford it at the moment. once thats done i can go out again and start playing around a bit more.

couple pics

with my mates ke70 with worked 4age turbo

ive also put my adjustable tops back in. front end needs to be all set up again. also note the blue escort has been reset to legal height looks like its about to go 4x4ing haha

both together

and finally a quick video going up the street

cheers
