Engine build serial number info, Melbourne

Seeking info about the tag that's on the passenger side of my pinto block, hiding in behind the engine mount bracket.
I can only guess it was rebuilt in Melbourne. Does the serial number relate to the job number or the mechanic?
Thanks

Is this a remanufactured/ reconditioned engine? maybe from Repco or other similar outlet? They attach serial no's to their units so they will have details on the rebuild/specs for warranty purposes.

It will have been a change over engine in the past from HM Engines or similar.  More than likely will have been standard as they were reconditioned as warehouse stock and then sold through the likes of Repco and Burson who ordered them as required.
The serial number was for warranty tracking purposes.

Thanks heaps guys, that's good info. Yes it's reconditioned.
Mario the engine produces about 100HP at the wheels. The cam is high torque and pulls really well from 2000rpm and max's out around 5500. The head had been mildly ported and I'm using a piranha electronic ignition. As well as 38DG*S weber & Tri Y extractors (4,2,1) .Compression ratio is 10:1
