Help with Pinto Alternator Bracket

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for advice in regards to my alternator bracket on my pinto. Short story even shorter, the standard units keep failing on me (shearing off on the shaft). I've heard its a common problem with pintos, therefore I'm hoping there is a common solution?

Any advice?

Pete

I've had one break and got it welded back together, he also tig'd a strap over it and a plate to make It wider .. This was done on both tabs just so the weak point had no where to go.
Just thinking about it , my mk1 zetec is using a pinto alt bkt and might get it beefed up before it fails.

Are you sure it's positioned correctly?  Obviously, if they aren't lined up right then you'll have problems.
