WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T GET SUCKED IN TO THE EXPENSIVE PLATINUM OR IRIDIUM OR OTHER OPTION..............TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY ON A CAR THAT HAS EASY ACCESS..............
GET EITHER STANDARD COPPER-CORE BOSCH W6DC OR OLD CHAMPION N7Y FOR HIGH SPEED OR N9Y FOR EVERYDAY DRIVING, OR
    KLG FE65P CITY-SPEED OR FE55P HIGH-SPEED, NGK BP6ES FOR HIGH SPEED, OR BP5ES FOR CITY-SPEED...
THESE ARE ALL $5 EA APPROX AND NON-RESISTOR AND WILL BE THE BEST FOR YOUR CAR'S PERFORMANCE.
RESISTOR PLUGS ARE A "CON" TO REDUCE EXCESS RADIO-WAVE POLLUTION THAT UPSETS GOVT & AUTHORITY
COMMUNICATION BANDS.........AT OUR EXPENSE!    LET THEM WORK OUT HOW TO MAKE THEIR EQUIPMENT
BEHAVE WITHOUT "SUPPRESSING" OUR EQUIPMENT THANKS VERY MUCH.
I'VE FOUND AFTER BEING A MECHANIC FOR 45 YEARS, THAT NOTHING BEATS SOLID COPPER LEADS AND SOLID COPPER UN-SUPPRESSED SPARK PLUGS, ALONG WITH PERFECT POINTS, CONDENSER AND DIZZY CAP..........WHEN WE'RE TALKING STOCK CARBY ENGINE EVEN AT HIGH SPEED............FOR HI-SPEED RACING, I AGREE ELECTRONIC IGNITION IS A HELP BUT LEAVE ALL OTHER ITEMS AS ABOVE.

Note to above postings, NGK BP6ES, BP5ES are NOT pinto plugs, this range suits 14mm X-flow, pre X-flow, BDA & Twincam plug holes. The Pinto takes a physically different plug with shallower but larger 18mm diameter hole. NGK plugs are generally  considered one of the best brands, just go to their website or a catalog and look up your application. Not really necessary to go for R resistor type and steer away from P projected tip type because if your head has been refaced a few times, depending on the electrode orientation when you screw it in relative to the piston, the piston may touch and close up your gap.
If you do a warmish pinto perhaps go one grade cooler, in NGK speak one digit higher than standard recommended.

You can still obtain the equivalent of the Motorcraft BF32 for high compression standard pinto's and BF42 for low compression standard pintos and have purchased at less cost than the equivalent NGK plugs. If you do a lot of stop start city traffic the best you can do is take the car on the expressway and drive it. It will run smoother after a good run if all else is in good condition and tune. Pinto's like plenty of spark and extended dwell does help, if going cdi watch the routing of spark leads.

I use NGK AP6FS as it says in my manual. Have a 38/38 weber with cam and electronic ignition and i didnt get told to change them when I got it tuned so I assume they are fine for a non standard engine. And the bloke really knows escorts.
