pinto sumps

i have x2 cortina sumps and am putting a pinto into my mk2 escort and was wondering if i cut the hump out of the cortina sump and re welded it flat to clear the crossmember and used the cortina pickup would this be ok?
 
any help is appreciated

    Cant see any reason it wouldnt as long as the pickup still fits

    A Cortina pinto sump can be used in an Escort, but you have to put spacers under te engine mounts, and use a slimmer air filter.... The Cortina pinto sump is approx 10mm deeper than the Escort pinto sump, and does not have as good baffles as an Escort one... each one has their own pickup to suit. Cortina ones are a wide inverted bowl whereas the escort one is a narrower bowl shape.

    Just my 2.2c worth including GST....
