Alternator mount

Q, where should the bracket attach on the pinto?

If i recall there should be a thick bolt with short thread then tube that goes into the block above thermostat??

Mine is over the bolt on the thermostat is that right?

well you could use a slightly longer bolt and go off the mounting bolt.

Are you still using the rubber bushed lower mount bracket?

Got sick of breaking bits so I welded one up out of 1/4 plate steel, seriously over engineered copy of the alloy bushed one (no bushes though) - works a treat with the 65 amp Bosch amp and no more problems...

Most cars you see now have the top bracket bolted to that lug on the waterpump....BUT...there is actually a small L shaped bracket that bolts to the block just behind the waterpump on the DS of the block that the alterantor is supposed to mount to. You can still find these on 2 litre cars that have not been stuffed around with too much.
