rl32 cam issues, what's a better alternative!

well, after alot of messing around with the rl32 and standard sierra injection manifold, I am looking towards an fr34. I've just spent a poo pooload of money trying to get this cam to behave anywhere near normal and it just farts and spits all over the place. I have a stage 3 head and standard bottom end (rebuilt). Any other suggestions on cam choice??????

Are you running the standard computer? RL32 will never work with that.

You'll get more experienced opinions than mine but it sounds to me like you need something with no more than 270 degrees duration and up to about 0.46 of an inch lift.

    Kent FR30
    Burton BF134
    Tighe 595

    Are just some candidates.

Look up the Pinto camshaft specs spreadsheet. The strong Aussie dollar is making some of the US stuff viable now.

You should be able to get the rl32 to run ok with the sierra injection and an aftermarket comouter.

Are you sure everything else is ok? can you swap in a std cam to be sure the cam is the problem?

i would be checking cam timing , ignition timing, air leaks ?? good map signal ?? is it fuel only or ignition as well , i'm running 295 deg cam with the sierra inj idles a bit rougher than carbs because of the lumpy map signal i think , once going it smooths out

I am running wolf 3d v4. Clearances are fine. This cam has 322deg duration. Once it is warm and the conditions are right. It drives ok.
But getting there is a huge pain in the arse. I will time the cam up again and do some more checks. Has anyone had any experience with injection manifold and rl32 cam and does it idle, behave ok?

Hi kizzy the short time I had the mk2 I bought running it would idle a bit rough unless the idle lock on the ecu was on. The car went resaonably well once up and going. Also the first time we had the head on and off we had problem with the ignition timing on idle it was a bit random, I never found out the reason though.
