I've got a couple of old looms floating around as well so let me know if any more plugs and sockets are needed.

As far as sourcing from the UK, postage is really slow at the moment which is understandable. My last order (July) from Burtons took 3 weeks even though the d^%^$&*s still charge full rate with DHL and state 3 days door to door after dispatch. I was not impressed and told them so but they couldn't give a hoot.
I would highly recommend looking to see if you can source anything from the US. They are really into Lotus and they are much better at customer relations.

^^ I have heard that a few times recently about them: Apparently we are the backside of the universe, so they send alot of the substandard crap to us, and too bad if you need support.

"Chicken and rice diet"? i'm starting to see 2 minute noodles as the only way of funding the contemplated duratec project. At least a Pinto would leave some loose change in the jar

Thanks for the response guys, ill see how my local leads pan out if not by the end of the week ill send out some PMs.

Yes ive not been impressed with postage from UK during this time, that been said i ordered some smalls from America and they arrived pretty quickly. Not bad for a country in choas.

I feel ya on the 2min noodle thoughts, i did that to fund my evo - 20k motor that lasted less then 2000km. But thats a story best left in the past.

For more inspiration how good is this video from chris harris, im sure the same principles could be applied to a escort to make a damn fun car. And gets me thinking again about weight savings, carbon bonnet and boot anyone?

Nowadays an old Xd/e/f light would be worth more then what I paid for this. I do like simple solutions to things tho.

Can post the eBay link if people are interested.

Is that like the standard Escort light?  Does it fit nicely into the original mounting? I seem to remember my light being long and thin?  doesn't matter anyway, I fitted the twin one  from a BF Falcon in the RS, lot of work to do it but came out nice. Only bits of UV degraded plastic left of my old one.

It fit a little tight but fit in ok. The terminals needed to be ground down a mm or so with the dremal but nothing 2 mins and steady hand couldn’t fix. For 25 bucks I thought I’d take a punt. Someone was selling same item advertised from a escort and it sold for 80 bucks, (What got me hunting in the first place) couple mins googling and bam found it, and a lot cheaper.

Yes mine was in pretty rough shape and every time I removed it pieces of plastic would come away.

Treated myself to a pedal box as the first part of the brake upgrade!

I got a hydraulic box with a cable clutch pedal so if i ever upgrade i can switch the pedal out and put in a M/C. Took about a week to arrive from the Uk. Gartrac were great.

Unsure if i will continue with the APs i posted earlier or go a kit from the UK. The ones posted were a odd rotor size (280mm) which i think will need to be a custom rotor down the track. Or do i go a kit from the UK with standard size rotor that may be easier to replace in the future. Also clearance with the simmons is something im mindful of. Who knows i change my mind a lot.

Fuel gauge is back working, looks like the connector was stuffed, crimped on a new one and all good again. Love easy fixes and having everything working again eases my ocd.

Gartrac box did not come with a clutch rubber so while searching ebay this caught my eye, of course it required a bit of a grind to fit.

Finally got the boy out in the car for a nice day in the hills. Bit of a squeeze in there with him rearward facing. He is almost old enough to be turned around which i think will help with the fitment.

On the downside pot hole got me and has bent the inner guard out. Any idea how to pull this back without damaging the paint any more? The inner is rolled till about an inch above this point.

You need a third hand to do it but for little blowouts like that I hold each end steady with shifting spanners and then with the extra hand tweak that high spot with another spanner or some vice grips.

Great pics of the young fella in the car, you must be stoked. My nephew, aged 4, had his first drive in the RS last weekend, sitting on my knee and steering up and down the driveway. Nice to be passing it on to the next crop...

Bit of heat and some small taps with a soft mallet and it back to how it was, Ill go see paint shop in the next few days and see how they feel about repairing the paint. Hopefully not a job to small to be refused of passed off which i worry about.

the more i think about it, it must have been a damn big hole, add in the misses, baby, tools, picnic and baby gear she must have been sitting pretty low. Second pic is with gear and baby, misses is off getting pizza. lol

On another note, i was really hating the feel of the brakes in the hills. They just feel really airy and provide next to no feed back. They still work fine and around town no problem but once moving with some pace over a longer period of time just feel a bit meh.
