g'day,

Built it myself. Took a lot of effort and time. Still modding it and probably will forever. Next thing on the list is a hilux lsd rear and disk brake upgrade.

Yeah i did go skew then couldnt sleep so i ripped it off and re did it. That s**t is not fun to do.Had to cut it by hand as the decal kit comes in multiply peices on the front as it is too big for one piece.

g'day
Yep, performed the conversion myself. It cost around $6500 for the engine , box, ecu, manifolds, exhaust, tailshaft, intercooler, pipework, all the new autometer gauges, fuel pumps, fuel cell etc. The list is long but worth it in the end.
Helps to have a garage full of tools and beer.

g'day Shea,

Not dynoed yet but soon. Running the standard t25 turbo at the moment so im not expecting much. With the other mods, should get around 200-220 at the tyres on high boost. In a lightweight car, its magic. Im waiting for the Escort diff to chernobyl.[(#)]

Heres a few more shots of during the build process.
Not much room in the bay. This is a real effort when you do it by yourself.

Its just a highly polished stainless steel unit from eBay a while back. It will eventually go blue with heat, then i might have to coat it with a high temp coating or shroud it with a heat shield.

No sump mods are needed. I have a clearance of around 10 -15mm. I did use a world cup cross member and fabricated the engine mounts to give me the clearance i needed.

I used wood blocks to originally set the height and clearances in the engine bay before i welded the mounts. Note that the engine mounts are located further back on the sr block than the usual sr mount position.

There is a lug on the starter motor side of the block that is cut off to allow steering shaft clearance. Not used for anything anyway. I also added a 10mm spacer either side between the cross member and chassis rails to give more clearance in the gearbox tunnel and level off the engine a bit more.

Its mainly a street driver but originally set up for hill climb. (I built it to be very light) Im lucky to work with a registered rta auto engineer so its been engineered before and am currently finishing off work to adhere to the new National code of conduct rules for modded cars so that it is completely legal for the new rules. That included ripping out all of my copper brakes lines and replacing them with steel. The new rules are a real b*tch.

It really pays to know the new rules though. Its amazing what you can be stung for.

Cheers Allan. Just have to sort out the rear end. Im looking at fabricating a 4 link rear end without having to use box sections. Unequal length bars to chassis rails. Also a reverse watts linkage(fulcrum point attached to body and bars attached to diff housing).
All a lot of fun. The single leaf leafs arent coping well. Especially with lowering blocks.
Its taking time working out the hilux diff connection points for the links but its nearly there.

g'day Phil,
Yeah its getting pretty full. But thats it, other than a larger turbo at a later date. The heat shield was purchased from super cheap. Its the Larry Perkins RCL brand stuff that you can shape yourself. It comes as 700mm x 29mm sheet and costs around the $55 dollar mark. You can sometimes find it on eBay aswell.Good stuff
