The brakes on the Perana were V6 but calipers reversed due to crossmember being reversed. They just had updated pads installed. The rear diff is a Borg Warner which had the same V6 drums fitted ( mines been changed to disks though). So same master and booster. Perana were known for going fast and not for stopping fast the brakes should be upgraded and I might do that and keep parts to send back to original if required.

Congrats Wiggy.
Nice to see a car in the hands of someone who appreciates it and understands what they have.

You're right Deano.  What madness to spend hours setting up an account to buy something "unreal", not be able to spend it, and have to wait hours to process its sale when the "**** hits the fan".

Getting back to "cars as investments", I had a mob of mates swearing theyd pay me MORE than double the going rate for a V6 Capri as soon as I bought mine 4 years ago. One of them actually wrote me out a cheque which got me thinking: "I DID BUY THIS TO FLIP IT" but just that drive from Ballarat to Mt Eliza made me fall in love with
"Wild Stephanie Plum" (New Jersey Bonds-woman played by Kathy Heigl) as I call my Wild Plum Capri !

It would have to be Bill Gates type money before I'd sell ANY of my 19 cars

So yes,  any RARE car is WISE INVESMENT and a Toy to Enjoy while we want to enjoy them; then sell when it's time.

Appreciable asset. I’ve had the Perana almost 4 years now. I drive a truck most of the time. If I bought a new car for the same purpose it would be worth nothing now.
And you can work play and tinker with them. Can’t really do anything with new cars now.

If you want to look at it’s full story you can visit the Facebook page of it here under Keith’s house of Capris. Or African Muscle car forum and search term Another yellow Perana or Capri Perana V8. Both topics are concentrating on Peranas but mostly on this one. I must thank many in South Africa for giving me info on it for without it I would be always questioning its authenticity they have also helped me help others sorting their cars out. It’s numbers don’t match as it has a BG 171 motor from another Perana but it’s body is definitely an original Perana. African Muscle cars is a great forum but it has dropped off as all forums seem to nowadays. Please visit though and enjoy. Some of their cars astound me. Keith.

Forums have dropped off due to facebook, but then you get people that insist on putting facebook links on forums. Cheap shot at forum users really and useless if your not on facetube.

I’m not a huge fan of Facebook my wife is so that’s where she puts photos. So much easier to put pics up. Now I have an IPhone X I can’t put up any new pictures to this forum.

Fitted some new parts over the weekend. Firstly brand new 600 cfm Holley old one was leaking everywhere. New leads and plugs runs and starts so much better. Then installed new fibre glass parcel tray and NOS switches for the wiper instrument lights and heater (only to realise I got a single speed heater switch which is correct for these cars based on an XL so sweet). Now on to detailing and finally re-rego or club rego. It’ll be at Capriciation 2019 for sure and looking proud.
