Great story Peter  .......   photos asap mate.  Bet you must've felt bad rolling a 1 year old car Dad got for you.......main thing is you survived, and Dad "can see you've repaired it and kept it and would be proud of you".
Hope you've got a family member to keep the tradition going when you've finished with it,

Yes definitely will wear exactly the same t shirt  :)

I rebuilt the car while my father was still alive. He never appeared unhappy with me. It was my choice to buy the wreck back from insurance and he never attempted to over-ride my decision. Relo's said many years later that at least we all knew exactly where you were (ie in the front yard at home).

I still remember phoning dad to tell him I had destroyed the car with barely 17,000km on it.

No family members yet. Never married, No children. Possibly why the car has never been sold. :)

In the photo the RS suspension in the photo looks really high. My friend who took the photo owned a 2 litre 1980 Wedgewood blue Escort Sundowner van fitted with the deep dish Hotwires. We fitted the Hotwires to the RS on the drivers side just for the photo so the suspension had not settled. If you look closely my legs are covering the standard skinny Volante wheels on the passengers side. Several years ago I bought and refurbished a set of Hotwires which are now on the car.

Thanks Peter.  Great history. Very lucky car to have such a loyal owner.

Piccie late 1982 of my friend's Sundowner taken in exactly the same spot as the RS2000 photo.
He killed this one.
This was the second of two Wedgewood Sundowner's he killed.

When these Esky Vans came out, I was intrigued how similar the tail lights looked and how identical the tailgate hinges were to my much missed Dad's 1958 PREFECT 100E VAN............. Kept his SEDAN 100E in mothballs for the last (gulp!) 45 years after a maniac rear ended it back in 72. Sad to say it may never see daylight again, unless some youngie buys it for a "project", as I have too many on the back-burner.

Funnily enough, the car I bought from him is still basically in the same condition now as when I trailered it home. I had plenty of plans, but could never figure out what direction to take it as it’s had a lot of modification.

Here's a pic of my old girl outside the Capri Apartments in Merimbula, on the way home from the November, 2003 ACT SFOC National Capri Muster.

This Capri suffered any early drowning in the 1974 Brisbane floods. It was in Sylvan Rd, Toowong. The Regatta Hotel is the tall building, right of centre.
The gold/silver stripes would suggest it was a 1969 GT.
I wonder who owned it & whatever happened to it.
