Wouldn't change the value of the car anyway - to me - about 8k worth - it is what it looks to be - a nice restorer ( the whole matching numbers thing is a big yawn)

I think its time to cut and paste the last half of this thread, as I said, the re-shell story is a good one, like the Capri that fell off the production line and was hastily fixed etc etc. But, this thread should focus on the last 11.

What ever numbers are stamped under the bay doesn’t change how it drives. My Capris are about me and how I love them. Couldn’t give a rats arse on anyone’s opinion. Feel like an arse saying she’s an original matching numbers capri every time I say it. It’s a Capri. 3ltr V6. DPort. Nice mix.

gtv6capri .....If we cannot confirm that it was one, we should re-locate these entries to a separate new thread-as its still a good capri story
Agree. I think the discussion should continue in a separate thread so it can still be debated, but away from this particular thread.

BEE VEE Does anyone know how many Wild Plum painted vehicles ever existed, or where they were sold ? Did all 1972 Capris get fitted with REAR DEMISTER HEATED GLASS in line with ADR72, or was it hit and miss ?
To my knowledge, no-one has ever found any data on numbers of Capri's painted in what colours. Secondly, ADR72 refers to 'Dynamic Side Impact Occupant Protection' and was introduced on 1 Jan 1999. I think you've got your numbers mixed up there Bernie.

Hi there everyone, Unlike some people, I'm not jumping to conclusions, or casting aspersions, just because one person sees a GTV6 of a certain colour, which reminds him of an event some 40 years ago, and declares this MUST be the same car, as if it was the only car painted that colour ! It doesn't cut any ice with me, since there's absolutely no facts and or proof WHICH EXACT CARS ARE INVOLVED ! If any facts from an expert do come to light re MY Capri GTV6, I'll accept them with a smile and add it to the Car's History Folder and know that the Letter of Authenticity from Ford a few years ago, just adds to my interest in my very rare ONE-OUT-OF-ELEVEN 1972 Capri. Anyone have an XRAY machine to see if the Chassis Number around RH Tower is hiding another one below ?????

My error citing ADR72 must have been auto-suggestion in my brain due to my Capri being ---72 ! Checked my RWC Books and ADR15 of Jan 1971 provided for Windscreen to have Demisters, but from what I read, there was no mention of FRONT or REAR Windscreen so far, just WINDSCREEN ...............will keep looking.

GOT IT! ADR15 of Jan 1971 refers only to FORWARD VISION, so there it is.......no rear demister mandatory yet Will search my ADR Books till I find it

There is no evidence here to suggest that's BEEVEE's car has been re-shelled. Please take any further investigative discussion offline from public viewing. Moving chassis numbers between different shells is definitely illegal, so I don't recommend for anyone to be openly discussing that they have been involved in it, no matter how long ago it was.

A Dport engine surfaced recently, CKME33054P. This engine is from one of the four Bib Stillwell cars. Information supplied by John Roberts.

Hi John and Ron and also to the hard working admin members keeping this Site going, Merry Christmas to you all Has any more info come to light as to what colour the Capri would have been that came with this engine? Is this the eighth or ninth Dport Special Engine to surface? Cheers Bernie

Hi Bernie, I hope you are well. Regarding the uprated cars new information is rare. So from memory we have the numbers for about seven cars, with another two mentioned but so far no numbers. Normaly colours can only be checked by inspecting the ID plates. Except the four cars that Bib Stillwell sold were advertised as red pepper, lime glaze, wild plum and yellow fire. The first three of these are already accounted for so the one still missing must be yellow fire. I am always excited to glean any information about these cars so even if you only think you know something please post. Regards to all, Ron.

I trust this message finds you and yours in tip top health and that you all have a great Christmas.
We can only hope that one day, comprehensive info On our beloved Capris will surface. It won’t be the end of life as we know it should this dream fail to be realised: We’ll still love and enjoy our Capris as I’m sure we all do now.
Kindest regards Bernie
