Shed find
Hi All. My neighbour brought this home this weekend - heard this had been left in a shed for a few years, tracked down the owner and took nearly 2 years to convince him to part with it. Very good price but needed a good clean up, just needs a bit of TLC to bring it up to spec. For those of you not up with our big brothers this is the last of the AU series - a TE50, hand built V8 and some performance goodies, certainly saved the best for the last, I always thought the earlier models the ugliest car that Ford produced. You would appreciate this one , Drew, You have one of these, in blue?? Len

I recently stumbled across a shed find too. A mate (who is not into cars) had been helping clean (and throw out!!!) another workmates father's sheds. He knew i was into cars so invited me over for a look as he said there were some bits I might find interesting. Arrived there to find so many old holden NOS parts, heaps of monaro bits, guards, hubcaps, mags, v8s etc, an old lc torana, and a genuine matching numbers HT GTS 253 monaro under sheets. 'Don't throw anything else out!!!'' was uttered more than a few times. Unfortunately I didn't find the hidden twincam I was loooking for but did manage find 6 NOS rear MK2 escort bumpers still in their ford wrapping. Shaun

G'day Len, Yeah I have a burgundy manual. Good find, he'll have fun in it, they're a really well engineered package, not just about engine but stopping and steering too. Watch for these in the future market. Still looking haven't found the shed that my Mk1 GT500 is hiding in yet... Cheers Drew

Soooooo.... Following up from this, I dropped by the folks house for a coffee and was telling them about the Monaro and Torana story. My mother asks, 'what is a Torana'... I proceed to show her a photo on the net. 'Oh, (insert name here) from church has one of them, she's just stopped driving it and it is parked in her garage......' What is an original, one owner, 4 door 6cyl lj worth these days. I don't need another project, if it was a 2 door I'd keep it, however it might be worth grabbing it... Would a barra engine fit ????????? Shaun.

Update, Finally managed to catch up with the old lady...... The car is actually an LC, not Lj but anyway... that's not the problem. The trouble is some clown has recently told her that early torana's are worth $35000 and up...... and therefor, she wont accept, in her words, ' A penny under $35000.......!!!!!! The fact that she had never heard of a GTR nor XU1 meant nothing, no amount of convincing could tell her otherwise, and in her eyes, all toranas are the same. Shame really, as it was a very original, neat little car. Guess it's going to sit in her shed for a bit longer and some lucky so and so will find it once she falls off the perch. Shaun

so maybe if you still wanted to pursue it, print off some ads and leave her copies of what other cars in the same nick are going for, along with your phone number, just so she knows. Maybe in 6 months time you might get a call back. nothing to lose.
