Tachometer. Ghia/sports dash.

Fitting a ghia/sports cluster to my mk2 pvan.
I have everything working except for the tachometer. Any wiring hints and/or advise on how to check if the tachometer is faulty.
Any help would be appreciated.

Tacho pickup should be from the negative side/points side,  of the coil.

There is a wire that is taped back into the loom near the coil. As panel vans never came with a sports dash they didn't bother connecting it. I can't remember what colour it is...maybe pink? It needs to be connected to the negative side of the coil. Can check the colour tomorrow if you like.

Yeh its pink and should have a male and female connector currently mated to each other right near coil. Undo this, stick the female end onto coil negstive and tape up male. This should give you a tacho via factory wiring.
