Small repair section that took a long time to complete. This section rusted away allowing water into the boot, which caused the lower section to rust. I have seen a lot of cars go n this place, the repair is beautiful. I am reliably informed that taillight and beaver panel are ready for installation. Wheel arches had been cut and folded for clearance, My fabricator felt it better to undo the modification rather than fit a new arch due to the length of weld needed.

Just collected the re-trimmed seats for the old girl. The car was delivered with B2 trim code, the rear seat was still in the car but the front seats were long gone. I located a pair of high back buckets and had them re-trimmed using the correct Ford cloth which is kind of like hessian. They came up very well and look the part. I think this was an important part of the car to retain

The seats have the chrome latch 3/4 of the way up the side. The cloth is not the Beta cloth from the RS seats etc, its the same as XA Falcon inserts, it is like a fine hessian.

Taillight/beaver panel fitted up, now the Valance and final fit off of the left front guard. Suddenly the body is looking very close. The lower beaver panel was a bot of pain and did not fit up too well. I used to see them advertised quite regularly but it was hard to find one, perhaps the fitting quality explains the lack of demand. A fit of cutting and filleting saw it right, Elliotts repairs are so good there is very little filler needed

Im having a catch up with Elliott to hand over some cold hard, ill get an ETA for you. There is a chance it will be done in a week or two if that works for you. I have begun work on the D Port engine I acquired for the car. It was 30 up and 4 of the top rings had broken-damaging 2 pistons in the process but luckilly not the bores. I have a set of pistons now so will have to undo all the work I have already and start again. The Essex is a simple engine so its not so bad. Heads went in for a bath and a surface and have come up looking nice, I just need to assemble them but waiting for the pistons to make a full long motor.

Valance fitted, almost finished the bodywork. A bit of fettling on the left front guard to mate up and some engine bay holes to weld up, and its off for painting. Old engine and T5 removed, D Port is being rebuilt as we speak. It it giving me grief as 2 of the pistons were no good, one had a warped top ring land, the other had a broken top ring which span sideways and broke the gap between the top and middle ring lands. Also it looks as though some put some +40 rings in with the +30 set I was originally replacing. Alternate set of pistons located, hopefully it stops fighting me now. D Port Heads back from the machine shop after a hot bath and surface to all the contact faces, now to lap in the valves and replace the seals. Making progress.
