Well if anyone wants to sell a matching numbers car for the price of a non matching because the numbers don't mean anything then let me know.

I prefer matching numbers, I passed up a couple of GT Cortina's before settling on mine due to the stamps on the engine not being right. Glad I hung out for what feels like the right car, rest assured I will be driving it when I'm done along with my matching numbers RS, TD Cortina and TE50 Falcon. Yep I will. $38000. Diamond white Auto. Numbers matching but no radio. Perfect inside and out. Ok 90% concourse.

When someone gives a wave. A road worker stands and smiles or the many get a photo in front of a beautiful car none look at the engine bay numbers.
I say again if you were at a car show and someone sniffed around enough to be checking for matching numbers you’d be buying a GPS tracker to keep your investment.
So what is the price difference.
If I had two cars same color same combo completely original both with perfect paint. 34000 miles on both owned by the same person from new but he blew one motor up cause the motor was built and finished Friday Arvo what would both be worth. Hypothetically of cause.

Regarding matching numbers, just have a look at the auction results for any classic cars and all the top prices set are for matching numbered cars with full history.
Owners of non-matching numbers car argue that it doesn't matter if the original engine is still with the car however can you honestly say if you was offered the matching numbered engine for your car you wouldn't want it......

I think ebay represents market value to a point all be it full of timewasters and idiots.
A view at present is theres a number of Capris available right now and original models are up for 40k plus with matching numbers .
Then theres a modified car with a 460 dart motor for 90k .
That hasnt matching numbers .
Some guys want matching numbers .
Some guys want dyno numbers.

Some might have seen this one for sale. I bought it. It shows how to be an idiot on car so well. Take a classic cut it up and forget about engineering, safety and all structural integrity. I’ve got all the panels from wrecks. I’ve been looking for something to start on really that I could not make worse than when I bought it.
I’ve been to a few coarses and do a bit of practical experience more so.
Never really stuffed up yet but skill level needs a star or two.
This one will teach me before I start all the others.
We’ve all been through it. The expectation doesn’t meet your ability.
Stand back and learn. This now is my favourite project.
They’ve seriously cut out the whole firewall.
No idea what new firewall they put in but so badly done it’s not funny. I’ll try to post a photo but it won’t work.
