ford capri gearbox

hwy boys doing the part of the car i have left to do the gearbox

i know when i had the other capri it was a side loaded linkage type gearbox

this one i have seem's to be a borh warner type 4 i think with a single rail selector

im not even sure its of the capri considering when i brought the car everything was off and i think they have just chucked some gearbox in to make it look like theres one wasnt fitted up on engine

do any of you boys know if there were two types of v6 gearboxes

cheers

Side linkage box was supplied on Aussie V6s, but the RS3100 (plus later Mk1s in the UK) got the internal linkage Type 5 http://www.burtonpower.co...e-5-gearbox-guide.html

The side linkage box appears very similar to the Type F box, but I'm not sure if it can be considered the same. http://www.burtonpower.co...e-f-gearbox-guide.html

I suppose just measure it up top bolt wise to the Essex. You might have a weird box but it might the newer 4 speed. All our gearboxs apart from the RS3100 had side linkage 4speed.

I'm sure someone here will have an original gearbox spare if you need it. If you can't find one let me know.

It's a v6 bell housing - might be an ok set up?! The original external linkage box isn't great

I have a side link box and a shifter if you want to go back to stock.  What you have is a BW single rail with a re-drilled sidelink capri box's bellhousing.  In fact Dellow make a cast bellhousing for this conversion.

I have a Type 5 updated capri gerarbox I was saving for myself to use in my white capri, I could be pursuaded to part with it

Capri The car I always promised myself
