Rack ends

Anyone have suggestions on shorter rack ends as i have the rack and pinion in the Cortina which causes the wheels to taper outwards when they are wound down.

Figured if i cut 20mm off and find a shorter thread rack end allow more adjustment, KA laser perhaps?

    Depends what Cortina !
I know that they can be adapted to fit Capri which comes with a bonus of p/steer on some racks.
Back to the shorter rod end thing...did you think of tapping more thread on the arm and then cut back to desired length . I'd get another rack and do this cause if it don't work. . It don't work !
Or cut the rods on a angle then cut ur 20mm at same angle , then shampfer the edges and Weld it hot to join it solid.. If this makes sense !

I prolly should have mentioned is an escort Rack and pinion, i did look at that, and the 2 shops advised against that for the street, and shorten the rack itself, i do have a spare rack, ill take it took an engineer and get them to chuck it in the lathe

Need to watch shortening just the ends as you may introduce increased bump steer.

    Cheers
