Question about front suspension MK1

Hello

New user here, interesting forum for a owner of a early 1968 Escort 1300 GT.

Have a question about the front suspension of MK1`s. I have read that it is a difference in early 1968 model MK1 and later models. And that a GT had a stronger front suspension, than standard 1100/1300 models have. If I have understand right, there is 2 different suspensions, the type where there is and antiroll bar in front, and the type without antiroll bar, that had 2 linked arms that was going backwords to the frame.. But I have altso seen an other early 1968 standard 1300, with the same suspension, that my 1300 GT, what is the difference then, stronger suspension ?

Does anybody haven some info/pictures/scheme of the variants of the front suspension on MK1`s ? Had been great if someone altså had the same on the rear suspension systems too.

Best regards Kjell, Norway

Thanks mate, but do you know, if these were delivered on both early standard models, and GT`s ?

As far as I know Only available on very early Escort 1300GT ( my mate had one), Ford went to forward roll bar type on all escorts from 69 (I had a 69 1100 with later roll bar and push button bonnet release in center of grill), not many 68GT's made.
Funny part is the suspension tuners went to great lengths to re introduce compression rod systems when Ford had the answer in 1968 then abandoned it.

Thanks for the reply Hendo. You see, a friend of mine has an early 1968 1300, and as far as I can see, the front suspension is the same, with no antiroll bar in front.. So maybe this was used from late 67 to August 68, on all models, and that the GT had a stronger springs, I don`t know.

I must check under the front of a couple of Escort`s I know of, and check it out. :)
