Computer and all functions are now operational. I had to open up the ecu again to add to additional circuits for the Thermo fan control and tacho output but that was simple. If anyone is thinking about also using mega squirt and need any help, just let me know.(especially while its fresh in my mind!)

Did you test the ECU on the Jim Stim simulator first? You will like Megasquirt even more when you tune it with the tuner studio software, well worth the money..

I am looking forward to that :) Yes I did. I used it during the construction process as per instructions. What caught me out is that because I am using a PWM idle valve, I never put the circuits in for the IAC valve arrangement, but these are the spare out puts I required for the Thermo fan etc.

Bit of a setback today. Was looking under the car finishing off fuel lines and battery cable and I've got a leak from the front of the gearbox. My own stupidity as I didn't replace the front gearbox seal as it looked OK, obviously wasn't. Out comes the engine... Again

Yes the small things always seem to catch you out on these projects. My front struts were in and out 6 times before I was happy. Back from the trimmers this week I hope after almost 2 months.

Started working on the centre console today. I will add a recessed section in front of the gear stick also, but just haven't determined the final layout yet. I will probably but the kill switch in it also and probably my headlight and windscreen wiper switches. I am making another section which will come from the original dash and hang over this section. I had this previously, but I will modify it this time to incorporate the CD player. Car is running well etc and have done a few small laps around the block :)

Further progression on centre console arrangement. It won't be as wide as shown as the extra width will be folded to the sides as side panels. Making use of spare signs as templates as a recycling invitiative. I need to offset my carbon footprint somehow from the fuel I use in cars 😀

Lol, was that sign really a "spare" Good to hear its on the road, those first couple of laps around the block would have put a smile on your face. Coming on nicely... Drew...

whooligan Loving the centre consol design. I want to do something different for my mk 1 as interior parts are getting hard to get. Keep the pics coming.
Thanks whooligan. I'll have the centre complete by this weekend then will post up some more pics. I just need to work out the glove box design and how to tie it all in and then I'll be happy. Ive just ordered some more smiths gauges to put in it. Now it will look like a plane with the amount of gauges 😀

Mine was timber originally but I wanted to shape it a bit more with the lines of the centre console so that's why I went aluminium this time. It's all finished, now just time for trimming etc That is the frame of the glove box/ shelf. The flip down section is so that I can access the fuses in the relay board without tools Incase of any issues

Started fitting the front carpet again before doing the final check of all the new centr console and covering it. Having the front carpet makes it feel like a car again. I am going suede on the side and black vinyl on the top. A reverse if the seats.
