Small Hole or Large Hole Strut Tops?

Hi everyone, I currently have Kmac adjustable strut tops on my Mk1 Panelvan and wanting to replace them for standard ones but only just recently realised there are small and large hole variations of strut tops. My Panelvan is a '74 model and just wondering if anyone could help me with whether I would have small or large on mine. Thanks

    You would have large tops.

    Large up until 1977? then I think 1978 Small onwards. A Small Ford Boffin may be able to tell you exact month/year.

    So all Mk1 Escorts are large and also early Mk2s.

    large= 134mm PCD
    small= 111mm PCD (the actual hole on small strut top plate is around 86mm)
    The change happened early 77.

    Thanks for the info.

    Can anyone advise why they changed the Bolt Circle Diameter in 1977? Just out of interest. And does it have any implications between the two when considering aftermarket suspension?

    Also I didn’t know what PCD was so looked it up. Hopefully someone might find this useful as well.

    PCD – Pitch Circle Diameter which is also sometimes used as a synonym for what is more properly called Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD).

    The method of calculating was interesting but brought back nightmares of high school maths.
