Cheers Chris.

You are spot on there... Aussie dollar is really a pain. Should have done my escort build a few years ago. The difference in cost of parts would be scary... Oh for $USD parity...

Yes waited too long too. So total cost for engine parts will top $7000 but it is the last item required to finish the project by xmas.

For a standard Zetec engine conversion you can make all the parts required to fit it into an Escort. It's not hard just takes time and patience. There is plenty of info on the web to give you ideas.

I guess the kits suit the time-poor. Think about the time & energy invested in chasing down information, parts and getting stuff made by mates or fabricators all over town, when it's convenient for them. Or you could instead spend extra time working in your job to buy a kit? Not as much fun I know but makes sense for some of us. I also like the idea that all the R&D had been done with the kits and it all looks factory when installed.

If it was me.. i'd buy while you can.. The future dollar doesn't look great. Although we have maintained some value surprisingly on top of falling chinese results.

Better yet pack your bags do a return flight to UK and pack your bags full.

You can't win modifying certain cars, but that's the joy of it all, to be unique in someway, and keeps the value of the car, bolt ons are so 2010 haha

BUZ440 - 1966 Mk1 Cortina

Looks awesome Chris! What did you do for the brake system there? Is it a modified factory booster arm or newly made? And the MC?

The booster arm was modified lower, cut and re welded rod arm was ok, thread was long enough MC is out of a 1974 GT ford falcon as I am running 4 wheel disc. Had to use a inlet manifold that had a rake of over 25% to clear the whole set up. Has Ford BA rotors all round with floating hubs on the front from hopper stoppers in Vic also BA hand brake set up with custom cables also  WRX 4 pots front and 2 pot rears. If you would like some photos let me know and I can send a few via email to show you the set up.

Regards Chris
