Import duty- Retroford Zetec Kit

Hi, has anyone imported a Zetec fitting kit from retroford in the UK? How much would customs charge for $2700 value?
Thanks

If going by the rules it would be:
    $2700 + shipping.
Then times by 5% duty tax.
Then times that by 10% gst.

See if they will ship & invoice the parts seperately in consignments less than $1k aud. You might have to offer them a bit more for the extra freight and packaging time, in the end they get the sale and you save on customs.

Don't forget that they levy clearance fees and GST on top of that too.

Never paid any taxes on my kit, or GST might have been lucky. $3100 for the complete retro kit plus about $3,600 for the Jenvey twin TB kit.

I can recommend someone to put it in if you have an engine

    NISROLA - 1976 KE30 Two Door

    BUZ440 - 1966 Mk1 Cortina

All you really need to buy is the sump & pickup pipe and water rail(Dunnell). Engine mounts can be cut and Modded from pinto ones , keep the zetec flywheel and clutch cause it works just fine in escort. Extractors can be made at an exhaust shop for under $400, or less if do it yourself. Inlet is what you decide. . Bike carbs , or injection etc made local .
My last zetec conversion cost me about $1200 only cause I bought stuff from USA as well as uk.
Someone on this forum used a escort or Cortina tin sump on the zetec as they are very close in size. Think outside the box and don't always think that buying the kit is the only way to install these motors .
    Cheers

Can only say for N.SW. 2.L engine ok but has more than 20% more power than pinto thus engineering and EPA is required also the brakes need to be upgraded and any other component like engine & gearbox mounts need engineering too. I would think SA would be very close to this also. EPA is a hard one as the EFI Zetec system wont fit in the Escort thus with twin TB EPA pollution test must be done this totalled me over $800 in Dyno time and uro 5 cat. But it all can be done if you have a good engineer, time & cash. E85 fuel might be a better way but not sure as mine runs on 98.

I just bought a bda rocker cover, oil cap and leads for a total of about $900 including freight. One ten minute phone call, really easy and great to deal with AU and NZ don't have to pay VAT. So all you pay is advertised price from there website
