managed to assemble and disassemble the rear suspension without taking a photo But i did assemble the front suspension so I could weld the Compression strut brackets on Also filled in a few left over holes seam welded the transmission tunnel and finished off welding the front wing rail on drivers side. Tested the sand blaster on the shell and its going to take a long time to finish so Ill farm this out. Intercooler, hoses and harness arrived this week too. If only I could order some spare time. JP

Nothing like a long weekend to get stuff done Spend a good 4 hours touching up welds and finishing little bits and pieces of grinding etc. then pulled the new dash out oft he bag and offered it up. After drilling the required holes and scolloping out the dash opening Its f.....g crooked! So finished the other wing rail. Will be back on the ground on Monday as its off to the sand blasters next week for inside underside engine bay and boot to be stripped. Maybe more photos then. JP

the left hand side of the cluster is much lower then the right and a heat gun was my first thought to 're-shape' the dash moulding, that and bolting it up tight in the right place. JP

A bit exciting. but a bit tight But also good articulation One more Anyone have a measurement to centerline of rear axle from a known part of the car as its all too far back. Might leave it there however and cut the arch and reshape!??!?! Also got to sit in it and everything is in reach or can be seen past. The A pillar gusset is not visible and the roll bar is as tight against the original windscreen surround as possible so good visibility. Seat is at right height as I can just see the guard humps. JP

just set the wheels so they are central in the arch. Measure down from the top lip to make sure they are the same height in the arch and then measure the center of the arch opening. Or you could use the wheelbase which is 94.5 in or 2,400 mm.

That looks hard as nails JP. Love those Revo wheels too, they suit a bubbled mk1 so well. Cracking progress, I'm loving watching this one. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks Troppo. I intend stretching the wheel base as much as possible but a reference point/dimension would be useful. the wheel base is a start but the front wheels would be 20-25mm further forward than standard, but I don't know exactly. Thanks Hak. I enjoy looking at the photos too more than the build at the moment. It does go on and on and on. Justin

PJ, the cage legs are the new skyhook system. A roll cage with crumple zones... I had to cut the original feet out to replace the floors, and inner sill as well as the side intrusion bars et al. Now I'm finished with the blasting Ill replace the foot box section onto the spreader plates already installed. then new A pillar reinforcing bars, a side intrusion cross dash bar, and cage triangle to front tower . Also got some reinforcing bracing and body tags to install...never ending. Troppo, remember the front floors are all brand new. But there was never a lot of rust throughout. the heater plenum chassis rails, sills were spotless, the boot floor is a bit pitted and the tank/spare wheel wells are really the only parts needing work and the lower front guards had been repaired last time. Cheers JP

Slow going over the last two weeks as time has been spent air conditioning the house and looking for a garage/workshop/factoryette to rent (any leads fellas greatly appreciated) But a good load done this weekend despite it all Measure 75 times and once again for good measure. then the tin snips came out, and the blisters. A larger longer wider taller diff tunnel all fully welded in, also got the bulkhead sides welded in and the electrical bulkhead fitting hole cut. Missed a bit with the paint So the top of the parcel shelf to spot weld on then I start on the cage modification and replacement bars. Paint by end of November Cheers JP
