Fuel rail to suit 2lt port spacings - OEM from another make of car?

I need to chose an inlet route on an EFI Escort, the setup I'd like to use runs a standard carby manifold with injector bungs but doesn't currently have a fuel rail. The plan is to not use a Sierra EFI manifold if I can help it.

I see my options as:

  • I can attempt to make my self
  • Pay to have one made
  • Use a universal kit - Anyone use one of these on their Pinto?
  • Or find something off another car that may by some stroke of luck have same inlet port spacings? - Anyone know of such a car?
Thanks,
Rhys

    Rhys,

I've only just made my own. Very simple.  Get a blank rail, drill to suit injectors, then tap the two ends for some hose barbs or similar and atach some mounts.

Google DIY fuel rail etc and you'll get the idea.

There are a few rails that are very close. magna etc and I was going to go this way, but for the sake of stuffing around, just make one.

There are plenty of places that sell DIY parts such as EFI Hardware in Mitcham.

All in cost me lest than $50.

Have a look at a e or b series falcon six rail. Fairly close, steel, and built in reg

Yeah, what spigot said, Falcon ports are almost identical spacing to the pinto, to the point were i cut down an EB log manifold and bought a pinto inlet flange and was going to weld them together for my efi setup, which i'm no longer doing at the moment. The fuel rail can be easily obtained and is steel so can be welded and injector choices are huge and cheap. I liked it because the manifold faced down and throttle body already pointing to the front.

Got two, one from an EB and one from an EF. Only real difference are mounting lugs and fuel pressure reg layout. Got both to see what would work best.

Looks like the one I have is a cut down Falcon rail. I'm hopeful I can modify one of the new ones to suit better though.
Thanks for the heads up guys.

Has anyone had any developments with making/converting the EFI inlet manifold to suit 2L?

I am interested because I would like to do something similar for my 2L turbo project.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

Nothing too special to report. I have two standard 2lt inlet manifolds one with injector bungs welded on top right near inlet port to head and another with injector bungs welded sideways facing straight in each runner toward inlet ports.

I hope to modify a Falcon fuel rail to suit but have got bogged down with other cars and the engine build/sourcing various parts.

I'd like to test both version to see if either is beneficial over the other but for now I'm focused on just getting a motor build, the work out the bolt-ons.

Will update my thread when I have some more progress.

    Cheers,
    Rhys

    G'Day,

No news on this I keep bumping it to the back of the line.

Camo91 how much are you chasing? I have something similar already and would probably cut yours off at runners and remake the plenum.
