So I went to Pick-a-Part yesterday and grabbed a fan switch (big thanks to Nick who actually did the work lying on the ground) but was interested if the temp range of 80 - 85 (from a "87 Magna) is to low for a Pinto?

Or is 85 - 90 (KA, KB Laser) a better temp range or is higher better?

The thermostat I have to put in opens at 75degs but I can get a hotter one if need be.

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

Matt

Cheers mate,

I have been looking on TurboSport and they all reckon the pinto works best around 80 - 85degs.

I wet back to Pick A Part and now have heaps of fan switches in 85-80, 86-91, 97-92 so I have a few to try.  I also have a number of thermos to match the switches too.

Cheers,

Matt

As rs2000 said you want your fan temp above thermostat. You onlt want your fan to kick in as you go over your normal operating temp otherwise you fan will always be on.
You need a little bit of leeway for the thermostat to cut in and out before triggering your fan.
I would suggest staying up around your 90's for your switch

Cheers Mate,

I am not sure when I'll do this but i'll try the 90 deg switch and go from there.

Cheers
