Capris rust in many places and for many different reasons. A pillar rust and offending floor and sill rust can be from leaking window corners top and bottom through to mud build up between fender and A pillar to the worst which have both. Each Capri I've owned has its own issues, and has been cared for or neglected in various ways and varied results. Would be nice to see some pics of your resto of bringing your one back In Rod we trust and hope it's coming together for you. Still won't agree in leaving the comp plate untouched.

i think i found a capri that had rust in every place not to mention few hits .. ill get few pics up when i get some time hopefully i can get it painted very soon

That's a beauty blaze blue awsome score.Yellowfire gt (Anthony) has one and for everyone that hasn't seen it .Be hands down probably best restored capri in Aust easily.Even down to the correct crayon checked on driveline.Would easily win concourse. So if you want info check his project.

The only thing that beats HORSEPOWER is TORQUE.

From the pics the gumtree blaze blue seemed pricey with no mention of matching numbers pics of rust etc. But who knows unless you see it in the flesh. Fortunately all of mine now are relatively rust free when I buy them (always need something done to A pillar and rear wheel arches) but aside from that rear boot well and rear valance doors boot lids and bonnets are good. When I was buying 20 years ago I saw some absolute shockers also bought a few and still remember being ripped off by an 80+ year old with a 1600 gt. The car was set up for a young fool like me to walk in at night and do a deal, took a mate who new it all and at the end of the day couldn't retrieve anything aside from the wheels and struts. Wisdom is wealth.

Hi all

it's been more than 4 years since the last mention of a Capri Register..................is that it ? No further progress in this direction ?

The register should be basic and owners can decide what info they divulge, but at least we'll have a register.

As a previous member said, "what is so bad about displaying your reg number ?"  ....Everyone can see it and photograph it or record it when you're on the road.
I think most are being over-cautious re theft of these cars so I can understand this thinking.
Even if we don't divulge sensitive info on line, I'd like to take this opportunity to highlight the following which is not meant to strike fear or make us paranoid, but to be ALERT and SAFE re ANY car , let alone a rarity or collectable................
1/ Park car as safely as possible, with some form of "fuel cut" or "ignition cut" PLUS an extra Steering Lock.
2/ If possible, park where it can be seen from your new position at a picnic or restaurant or other venue.
3/ Towards home, be vigilant as to any car that's following you to see where you live and therefore knows where your car may be when you're not home.
4/ At petrol station, always lock car before going in to pay for fuel, etc in showroom....... Keep keys in your pocket when checking tyres or under bonnet, etc
5/ Dash Cam may be a help to keep an "eye" out to help us identify criminals.

any other ideas Guys ?

Bernie

There once was a Capri Register C.O.R.A. run by a bloke named Alan in Qld.  I dont think too many people saw the benefit.  Why dont you try contacting him to see the viability of a Capri specific register.  Personally I didnt join it back in the day, I stayed with my own club, as I would still do now.  Capri clubs in Aust keep in contact with each other and share info.  Perhaps you could join

Capri The car I always promised myself

Yes you could add a GPS tracker nowadays for under a hundred bucks. But theives use them now to track their prey. So your always stuffed. It someone wants to steal it theirs not much you can do.

With a hidden "fuel solenoid tap" AND a hidden bonnet release AND Rotor Button removed AND a Club on the wheel along with the Ford Steering Lock, I can't believe a thief would persist after getting past everything and finding the car "runs out of fuel" 1 minute after start up ........ other than with a forklift and trailer, which I'm sure theyd do for a Phase III GTHO.........the way car prices are going, they may even make use of a forklift for a humble Camira !

Seems unreal we have to jump thru hoops to protect our property that we slaved over for HUNDREDS OF HOURS and forked out thousands of dollars. But if the above precautions are used and works, it's all worth it.  If it means it adds 5 minutes to each trip, that's nothing to the heartbreak and anguish of a stolen Loved One.

Theres one more security device from the 60's that fell out of favour due to involved labour of brake bleeding and cost of Kit(or 2).  This was a hidden key operated Hydraulic Brake Line LOCK which would lock the brakes on as soon as a thief applied the brakes, and kept them on till you unlocked the device. Not bad for old single line cars, but todays modern dual systems would require 2 LOCK kits . The other drawback is "altering the originality" of the car's equipment. Thieves wouldn't hesitate to cut the lines just to get away with the car and hope the handbrake would suffice till they can secrete their spoils.
Ergo its demise.

Shame we cant fit devices to our possessions that instantly terminate these oxygen stealers. (Dreams are for free.)
Guaranteed then that cars would no longer be stolen.
