Cool car mate.
I have painted 2 rs2000 front ends without this 'flex' additive (did not even know i existed) - no probs for 5 years.
Car did not live outside though - but I can assume you at least keep it under a car cover.
p.s. - I love white cars - only problem is - they never look dity or clean.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm pretty pumped about how the car looks now, but will lower it. It looks worse than it is due to having spent time on stands lately, here is how it was before I pulled it off the road: But it does still need lowering, for sure. I might wait till after blue slip to do that though. I'm really happy with how the charcoal rims contrast with the car, though the photos don't do it justice in the shade. More pics to come soon out in the real world! Timmeh

Tint would be awesome, three of our cars are now lined up for tint at some stage rofl. Maybe a discount for that many? [:x)] I bought some Kenwood speakers to replace the dodgy ones hacked into the front door cards. It's a real shame they cut holes in them, but no point leaving dodgy stuff in them so I'll replace them with the smallest sized speaker I can fit to cover the hackage. Back from being away all weekend so back into the build-towards-rego tomorrow! Timmeh

Over the last couple days, I've been getting heaps done, but the damned tacho still eludes me. Today I put new brake fluid thru the lines and bled them, torqued the tailshaft bolts, installed a new circlip into the speedo line, and installed the new Kenwood speakers into the front doors, removing those old hunks of woo that previously sat there. We've done voltage and resistance checks on the tacho, I think it has died which isn't very cool. I'll try one more thing tomorrow but I'll either have to pull out the dash and get it repaired, or put in an aftermarket tacho (least desired). Tacho isn't required for rego tho, so tomorrow I'll book it in for its exhaust and blue slip.

Well, a couple of developments today. I finished the small remaining jobs, like fitting the VDO temp sensor, and drove the car out of the garage and onto the road under its own power for the very first time. The engine was fine, but the brakes are bloody awful. Either the vacuum assist isn't working right or not connected, or I did one hell of a crappy brake bleed. I am tipping its the first one, as I am sure that I did a good and proper job with the brake fluid change.
On a positive note, the tacho started working. I think the demon moved from the tacho to the brakes. The tacho was dormant until I was out driving the RS on the road to put it onto the car trailer, then all of a sudden it started working and now works fine every time I start the car. Either the needle got stuck slightly once, or the counter inside needed some time running to get going but whatever, it works and I am grateful for that.
I towed the RS to Premier Exhaust today, who will fit the car with a 2 inch system with a bolt on flange welded onto the extractors. The car will get one muffler and one resonator, should sound pretty well and facilitate a much wilder head on the engine when I finish it.
With any luck I might have the car blue slipped tomorrow, but might be pushing my luck, we'll see. Actually, I'll have to check the brakes before blueslip. My plates won't be in for another week though anyway.
I'm starting to really regret the fact that the Weber synchronous 40s have had their choke plates removed. It might help absolute top end airflow, but a choke would be gold while the car is cold. Might see about fitting one from another Weber or perhaps trying to find some originals, unsure yet.
Absolutely loving how the car looks in the flesh though, it's so tough! When I get the car back I'll get some photos of how it sits on the street.

Are you saying that your pedal is hard? What have you changed - induction?

The whole engine was completely apart but nothing in the induction side was changed, the synchronous 40s went back on.
The pedal is more soft than hard, though that would indicate to me that there may be air in the brakes, or a leak somewhere. I just bled the whole system, so either I did a poor job and have left air in the lines, or there is a leak somewhere. I did check extensively for leaks after I bled the brakes though, so I'll run yet another lot of fluid thru the brakes.
I'll have to wait till I get the car back tomorrow from the exhaust shop to work it out.

Alrighty, my project RS is GO! We did another brake bleed, a two man job instead of the self bleeder, and got air out of the lines which was the cause of the spongy brakes. Won't use the self bleeder anymore. Once the exhaust was on, the engine was quiet enought to hear that the rockers needed adjusting, so once the engine was hot I reset those. I also replaced all the vacuum lines and what a difference that made! The old lines must have not been sealing properly, because now the idle is more smooth at a lower rpm (lumpy cam still rocks the car a bit at idle but its nice) and instead of hitting an imaginary rev limiter at 3500rpm, it starts pulling harder than ever. I haven't taken it over four grand yet as the engine is still brand new but it feels promising. The car is now totally ready for registration, so I'll try to get the blue slip done sometime soon. My RS2OQO plates are still on their way and not going to pay for normal plates for a week or so, so no rush there to get the blue slip completed. Here's how she looks out playing in the sunshine, and next to my XR (the Qld plate on the rear is the previous rego, just haven't removed the plate yet): I'm still loving those charcoal rims, but she'll get lowered when the car is registered. I'm also going to take the car to a dyno to get someone who knows what they are doing with carbs to tune out the Weber synchronous 40s. I'm having real problems chasing down replacement Ramflo filter elements tho - anyone have any suggestions? Repco and Autobahn have nothing. Timmeh

My suggestion is to fit a K&N filter instead
The car looks great out in the sunshine Timmeh... a real credit to you! Once its sitting a bit lower will look even better. Any plans to fit the RS2000 side decals or stripes?
