Tram-Lining Mk2
What would the main cause of tram-lining in a Mk2 Escort be?
I went out with a few forum members yesterday and my Escort was tram-lining quite heavily at times when in the 80 and 100km/h zones.
I've read high performance tires can be a big influence but other than that can it be toe/camber settings? All suspension/bushes are in very good condition and not done many kms.
Cheers,
Rhys

Hey Rhys,
How was the drive for you? A bit more pace would have been better, but I was just happy to be out. I reckon we do that longer route one next time!
Amongs other things lots of negative camber and toe out will induce and amplify any tram lining. Over inflated tyres also exaggerate the problem.
When are we cruising next??? I am keen already.
Cheers

Hi Davor,
Was good to get the car back out on the roads. 4:11's didn't quite suit though.
I'd be up for the longer one next time.
Ok so camber is one factor, cannot remember toe settings - could be another, tyre pressure was just on 32psi for that drive.
I guess for the amount it gets driven I'll put in down low on the to-do list
Thanks,
Rhys

Excessive toe out will most likely be the factor, my mk2 used to be the same.
Another factor could be not enough castor, causing an unstable ride at speed.

I'll look into toe settings.
