Had to start somewhere so i decided to start with the boot... dont know why.. i pulled the fuel tank out and bugger me it was half full of fuel! for a car that sat in a shed for years it had been plugged up good as the fuel was in good condition (im not keeping it though!), not much rust mainly surface rust. Needs a new spare wheel bottom.. but thats about it. Needs a good clean and paint otherwise im happy to finally make a start.

Pics to come!

did a little more over the weekend.. the old bootlid that came with the car i have unpicked the outer skin from the inner frame and added a small strip of aluminimum as a support basically cutting the weight of the bootlid in half! also took one of the wing endplates off and 'reshaped' it also ive added a 'L' lip to it making it bolt to the bootlid instead of attached to the car.

Hopefully ill have some better shots soon.. i always forget to take pics while im working on it

did a bit more to my lightweight bootlid ...

Added strengthening bar, trimmed other endplate, fitted pins to mount it up and started bracing the endplates for flex..

bootlid is finished apart from small repairs and painting etc..

Now onto the fuel tank. Opened it up and it was baffled with 42 fuel cell 'bricks' inside the tank was very clean so a wash of the cell foam, strip and paint to the outside and its good to go again!

I was just wondering yesterday what you might have been up to with this one Matty.
The engine is a good fit in there, but the carbs are a little tight. Is it going to fit in as is, or do you need to cut and shut the strut tower a bit (if that's even possible)?
White with orange will look awesome too

yeah carbs will be tight... luckily they are 'drooped' in these shots when its all tight they sit up a bit higher, and yeah the plan is to cut and shut the top mount a little to get more air in there.. ill still need to use small ramtubes but oh well.

Made my cardboard engine mount for the passenger side last night just have to get some 3mm plate to weld it up and start the drivers side.

Just picked up the gearbox as well so i can sit it on and look at how the gearbox crossmember etc woll come together. Tailshaft will be very short by the looks of it!.

yeah im trying to get the day-glo orange that Vodaphone have on there Supercars this year for something different
