Old sports sedan mk2 rebirth

Hi all

I've just won this old sports sedan/club car off eBay others may have seen in on there. Decided to take a gamble on it as it was cheap. Does anyone have any ok pictures of the car or information of old owners etc? It's in Victoria an used to run a 350 chev the ad said. Running full commodore suspension at the moment and has an alloy cage.

My plans are to run a 6 cylinder race motor I have at home and use 15 x 10 rims and add a new cage and new color scheme at this stage

well drove 17hrs in one day and went and picked up the escort..

seems to have been a good gamble. the car has been not used for some time but has lots of good bits in it and has had a lot on engineering put through it. The switch panel has the old cams race meeting stickers on it from 1991-1993. full watts link rear, full rose jointed and adjustable front end etc..

and one massive hole where a turbo 350 chev used to live!

plans are to clean it up, and add some more metal back in where it has been taken out and see what happens :)

few better shots from loading up and getting it in the shed
.

    Looks good Matty,

Be interesting to see what colour it will be when you wash it!

    Watch out for redbacks too!

    Cheers

That's the way Matty. You do the hard stuff with the camera while your Dad straps the thing on the trailer.

Tar's for getting there. Dirt's for racing!

That's awesome Matty. It looks right at home in your shed next to the rally car.
It also sounds like a decent buy if its got a few good bits on it too. Have you had much luck finding out any history on it? It would have been a hairy drive with a turbo V8 stick into it!

Thanks for the spotting cam, i was on photo duties as ive torn my MCL playing footy last week.. dirty knee shot bent me inhalf.. so i cant even kneel at the moment..

Yeah shes lookin better now i gave it a little wash... just dont know where to start!..

No info yet ive got the pictures up in a few places hoping someone recognizes it. I finally got the bootlid off in what seems like years and found a 90...yes 90lt fuel tank! and centre mount attachement. It also has been seam welded and has had a in car radio at one point.. dad thinks it could even be an old group c Bathurst car.. as we cant work out why it would have such a huge fuel tank even with a V8?

Sorry to hear about the knee mate. I'd start with the high pressure cleaner, by the look of it.

90lt tank doesn't sound too far off the mark.  I took a friend's old VK for a run with a 308 in it and saw 64lt/100km fuel consumption pop up on the car computer with under some hard driving!  So chuck in a hot 350.

Did you score a CAMS log book with it ?  It'll be worth gold if you did.

na bugger all rust only some minor stuff in the boot floor and a couple of little areas.. its a shame it has no firewall or anthing anymore its a bloody straight 2 door shell... i guess the firewall and heater bubble are the worst areas for rust anyway... so thats probably why its rust free

Lucked in with CAMS on the racing logbook they are happy to replace the lost one for me. which is a good start.

Just need to finish building my firepit to get the missus happy and then i can have some more time with the new car
