Front tyre opinions

hey guys looking for a decent front tyre, car will be getting used to drift in, so max front grip will be needed to prevent as much understeer as possbile.

Tyres will be going on a 13x8 rim and looking for a 205/60r13 or similiar.
I have found cheap used formula ford rear tyres that are almost the same dimensions as a 205/60r13 but are not sure what levels of grip they will likely offer.
Also would prefer not to have to get them super hot for them to work as this is not easily done with 20+ other cars sliding around you.

any and all opinions welcome

Cheers
Zac

A set of these would rock  - http://www.federaltyres.com.-au/tyres/high-performance/595

Not sure where to get them in Melb though.

The 18" tyres only go for around $125 each so if the 13's are a simliar price it makes them pretty cheap.

    Mish,
The Formula Ford tyres should do the job alot better than any road tyre, they definitely provide good grip when there's some heat in them.

Get a pair of Toyo R888's. They are way better than the Yokohama's and usually around the same money

If money isn't an issue then yes I agree with GDub, I went from the Avons to R888s but only because I jumped up to 15's. I'm very happy with them.

Otherwise for the money in a 13" I couldnt go past ex FF tyres.  Downside is they are not road legal like the R888s

yeah money is not really flowing in, and if i were to spend the $$$ on the R888's i would also buy them for my 15's.
Might buy a pair of the FF avons and give them a wirl on the front.
Wont really be doing too much driving on the road on these rims anyways so shouldnt be too much of an issue, and if i do, they can add it to the list

Yokohama's went really well. They were only $225 off eBay for a set of 4.

Wouldn't mind trying the toyo's if you say they are much better than the A048's

At that price for a used set i would agree from a value perspective, but if directly comparing one to the other most people i think would prefer the TOYO.  On my car they are 2 seconds a lap faster at Philip Island on the same day with no other setting changes.
