I already priced it just over $600 delivered with new leads, oil cap and gasket, Its a great looking cover but really $600 is alot haha

A lot cheaper than a BDA though.. i reckon its cheap for sheer awesomeness haha
Just a shame because the Zetec is a newer motor you cant rego one using side draught webbers.

It may depend on your local regulations regarding engine transants and the the related emission requirements etc.

In Australia ADR's must be complied with. They must be met for the newer of the engine or the chassis... So a 1973 mk1 with a 1996 zetec engine must meet emmision controls for the 1996 zetec engine.... ie factory injection, unleaded, cats and all emmision control gear.... Just occasionally you can get an engineer to sign it off without some of these things (or an expensive emmissions test to demonstrate it does meet the emmisions requirements) as I have seen it done.. PS - all the original Aussie rs2000's with twin carbs are post adr27a and therefore do not meet emmission controls... Only a pre ADR27a chassis can run legally twins and the engine must also be a pre adr27a too....
Just my 2.2c worth including GST....

In regards to the BDA rocker cover and trying to make it look period.. They did have mechanical injection on the BDG's so if you had injection it wouldn't look too out of place with ITB's. (obviously just wouldnt have the mechanical drive system). Id do anything to have BDA looking engine, just a shame to get the power i want Zetec falls just short.. =( eg:

In recent times it has become mush cheaper and more available to test for compliance following the installation do a non standard post ADR37 engine. Providing you can demonstrate the engine is emission complaint (IM240 drive cycle test etc) then this portion of the conversion can be approved by an engineer. The downside is that depending on the state of tune etc as this may be rather expensive due to the time spent on the dyno to achieve the results and plus the IM240 test is $500 a shot pass or fail (in SA). I'll be giving it a go

When I was talking to my engineer (Vic) about 15 years ago when I got the engineers certificate for my car, he was talking af a $10,000 test pass or fail so it may have come down in that time... I went the easier route and got an early mk2 shell (pre adr27a) and mated it to an early (TC cortina) pinto that was modified.... car is now on club plates, but that certificate was worth gold in the couple of times I was pulled over and the fine print in the insurance company clauses saying the car must be legal mean the insurance claim went through no probs too.... I did it the right way for my peace of mind .... each state has something similar, but nsw,Vic,qld and sa in that order seem to be the most stringent... the engineers certificate onlonr was worth it years ago when I got pulled over in a big dragnet in Merimbula pulling over any suspect cars. Mine with the certificate was the only one let go and not towed away... had to pry the certificate off the cop reading it, as he had never ever seen another one ever before... priceless was the look on the orange Monaro drivers face as the noisier modified escort was allowed to leave and his was being impounded and towed....

Yes - peace of mind is the primary reason for me as I'm past dealing with defects and insurance hassles etc as I'm 40+ years old  It definately helps that it's significantly cheaper to perform these tests plus technology has improved and become more available to allow better ECU's etc to assist in tuning when attempting to comply a modified engine (compared to 10 years ago). Ultimately any money spent on engineering HAS to add the the value of the car when compared to similar vehicles which do not comply. Great story about the Monaro
