No,no,no stop looking at the pulsar for engine donor. Engine mounts are least of your problems, cyl head is diff as it has distributor on the back of it, both manifolds are diff etc etc. You will need rwd engine as stated earlier. If fwd and rwd sr's were the same price would be the same, makes sense?

Cheers

U need to do a **** load of research if u want to attempt it ur self... Or take it to a shop and tell them wat u want and write an open cheque lol

U need to set a goal... Wat u want to acheive with the car... Drags/street, circuit/street
Wat power you want...
And then research alot! Find out wat mods r needed to make X ammount of power out of an sr20... Pick wat model sr20 u want(NOT fwd) Wat needs to be done to do the conversion into an escort
The list is endless...

Custom engine moutnts
Custom gearbox mount
Hilux/borgwarner diff
Custom
Tail shaft
Suspension
Brakes
Intercooler
Radiator
All fitting piping hoses fuel system, cooling systemetc
Computer
Wireing
Fuel pump+filter

And thats jus fitting a standard sr20...
If u want somthing around 260rwkw
Then ull need somthing like a gt2871r turbo
turbo lines
Manifold
Custom cooler piping
Injectors

Man u need to figure out wat u want from the car and then start laying it all out...
Write it all down, shop around get rough prices for everything add it up and make the decision...

Yes I have put a 2jz into my 2 door mk2 (still building). Not an easy option. I have modified the firewall extensively and made a new gearbox tunnel. Heater bubble is now gone. I am running the 6 speed getrag box aswell. Engine only has 2 cylinders in front of the struts. I am running a borg warner diff with 31 spline axles and romac centre with 4.11 gears with disc brake rear end. I am running bmw discs and volvo calipers up front with a skyline master cylinder mounted straight on the firewall. Strut towers do not need to be modified. I am also running a 2jzgte so I also have a single turbo on the drivers side too. I used a non turbo motor to trial fit and make mount and stuff. Fits fine. 2jzge is legal in qld as the heaviest mk2 available is around 1080kg. Mine is a street car and also am going for near stock appearance. I have also strengthend the chassis as I am chasing 600rwhp and 1000kg.

I am posting this information only to give insight to the person who asked the original question and don't really care about negative feedback about handling issues. I also have an Sr20 datsun 1600 track car that is very well balanced and setup. I am mainly building this as I want something mental that looks some what just like a tidy escort. I still have tried to make it handle ok with engine far back and decent brake and suspension but only after I drive it will I know if I succeeded.
Hope this helped a bit.

Thanks.
Chris
