Build what ever you want. But before you do decide what you want from the car now and in the future. Then stick to it. Just build it once.

Look in the engine conversion section there is an sr20 conversion threaf i created...

Like power quest im in the process of an sr20 mk2 and i have spent close to 20k most of it fabrication but mine is alot different to a standard conversion... U could get away with doing an sr conversion complete running and hav change from 20k... Jus depends wat u want.., if u want the best of the best and go all out like i hav ur guna hav to be prepared to pay for it... Mine is on hold atm because i hav just bought a house and im 23...

As has been previously posted we have all gone through this as younger guys.  Though if were 16 again and had the internet I'd never leave the house!

My advice would be to speak to an engineer before deciding on anything and get some feedback as to what is allowed and what costs you are looking at.

You don't want to start spending any money unless you know you are on the right track.

You only have to look on eBay at all the unfinished projects from people who didn't do enough research before they started.

Not trying to dissuade you but would hate to see you spend a Sh%t load of money only to find you can't drive the car the way you want.

Good luck,

Matt

Good move,

As to the crossmember there are a number of threads on here that show what has been done to the standard crossmember to fit the SR20 engine.  Just new mounts really.

Making a new crossmember would just be a PITA.

Check out Power-Quests thread as he has lots of great photos to give you some ideas.

Good luck

Matt

Better off jus using the standard escort crossmember and cut thr engine mounts out and weld in som custom mounts... Way to much stuffing around to get a sr crossmember in cus the car is a completly different shape and size...

From what I can see (not having done it personally) the crossmember is the easy bit.

I assume you mean brake booster not rocket booster?

You'll have to go to a pedal box as space will be at a premium.
