Mk II Escort GL Body Moulding

I'm after a rubber trim strip that goes along the front guard of a Mk II GL like in the attached image.  These are mounted with double sided tape (unlike the Ghia's, which had holes in the panels for clips).  I'm in WA so it would need posting, but letting it sit in the sun for a while to soften up should permit it to roll up reasonably well and fit into a padded bag.  If you've got a nice one, feel free to PM me.

Thanks.

    Dude

I dont think these are actually Ford factory, they are basically an aftermarket item. Any panel beater / trim shop/stripe guy should be able to sort them out for you. (hope they can cos my RS needs one side done!)

    Cheers

    Shaunb,
That is a genuine ford protector mould,
This profile of protector moulding by ford had inbuilt arrow heads for the front end of the car and a inbuilt square finish for the rear of the car,
They also had an aluminium stiffener strip between the underside of the mould & the 2 way tape to hold them onto the body.
These moulds would be very rare to come by and to salvage,
Flighter, if you also look on ford falcon sites for them as they were also popular and standard on xc falcon line

    You live and learn.

So there are two types? Obviously the ghia ones are different, I have some of those.

From my Falcon GT days I know the factory protector pack strips are similar to the Escort ghia ones ie they go onto clips that are drilled and rivetted to the doors / guards.

I wonder if the stick on ones you describe were dealer ones, ie a spare part designed to be sold post manufacture / assembly of the car?

No, they are definitely factory fitted as they can be seen clearly in the Ford brochures.

The clip on type wer later Mk2 type (Ghia and Gl as well as the early Ghia too...
The early Xl and possiblt L (not sure they had it though) were a stick on one that was narrower than the later clip on type.....
Having wrecked / converted a couple to race cars over the years, you find there are a few suprising differences between the very early Mk2 Escorts and that much more common later Mk2 Escorts... (piant, trim, emission controls, strut tops, fuel tanks, carbies and badges)
