Hello,

We are new sponsors to Classic Ford and would like to introduce you to our ignition systems.

We have the facility to set advance weights and springs to many applications.

We offer Electronic Conversions for £30 and Full electronc distributors for around £115-130 depending on your application

Our ignition website is http://www.aseriesspares.co.uk/ignition/cat_52.html

Please take a look at our ignition systems as they could save you time and money.

Many thanks for your time.

I use a Scorcher dissy from a Magna that is HEI and is modified to use an Escort shaft so it still has the oil pump drive in it. You then need a different coil and to run a new wire from the ignition switch.

Performance ignition sell it as a kit for about $400.

Depends what you want and the spec of your motor i suppose

I've got a similar setup that another forum member built for me. It's a Magna dissy on a Bosch pinto body. Send a PM to blackvr as he'll be able to give you all the details you need.

Here's what it looks like. Best part is that spares for it are available at pretty much any parts shop unlike some imported stuff.

The biggest problem with electronic distributers is getting parts for them later on if you need to, especially the imported stuff. The other problem is the advance curve, if its not right you will need to send it somewhere anyway, and if you're fitting it to your existing distributer, chances are it will be worn and the curve will be all over the shop anyway.

The Bosch/Magna unit that Gdub and Fordsy have is the way to go. The original $$ outlay may be more, but worth every bit of the extra expense.

It takes a BIM024 module which you will buy anywhere, and the internals are also common also. The coil, cap and rotor that suits are also readily available items. You can specify your engine specs and it will be graphed/curved to suit.

I make a point of using this style of distributer on alot of engines I do, because there is nothin worse than being stuck Hrs away from home and not being able to buy parts to get you going. Especially if you're at a race track with a broken down car when you've outlayed heaps to be there.

Make sure whoever you get to do it use genuine Bosch internals and NOT the Chinese repro stuff.

Cheers
