Mine pretty much works like that on the surface but it isnt a cheap option.

I use a Scorcher dissy from a Magna that is HEI and is modified to use an Escort shaft so it still has the oil pump drive in it. You then need a different coil and to run a new wire from the ignition switch.

Performance ignition sell it as a kit for about $400.

Depends what you want and the spec of your motor i suppose

I have the petronix one that James posted up in my RS and yep it does run a hell of a lot better than the old points and seems good value for money. I can't cast judgement on this compared to the more expensive options mentioned.

My mk2 2ltr has been running a Sierra Bosch dizzy kit from Burtons i bought way back in 1994!! still going strong. They still sell them , the kit is a stck Sierra dizzy & amplifier with all wires etc, you will need a modern coil though. Best 50 squids i ever spent on that car !!

What do you want it for? Is it a stock or wild 2ltr? Road or race car?
Are you after power or just reliability?
If it's a mild streeter go with the link I posted.
If it's for a racer/ decent power maybe look towards gdubs setup.

Does the Pertronix ignitor fit the 1.6l Dissy? Do you know?

    Cheers, Brandon.

Keep checking UK ebay, as they come up from time to time.

example, here's one for 10 quid.
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pinto-Distributor-/260737203462?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb525fd06

Sometimes you have to bribe the poms so they will post stuff. But above all else, dont get them to go to the trouble, find out postage costs, then back out as this is what has stuffed buying from the UK as many sellers will post to europe but not oz... go figure.

Otherwise, put a wanted ad on one of the english sites like TS, there are plenty over there.

They only came out here on old auspost transit vans, you migh get lucky at a transit wreckers, (always pop the bonnet on transit vans at the wreckers :))

I'll have a dig in the shed, used to have 4 or 5 lying around.
