just heard from your brother mate, tuff luck! the richardheads in blue are out in force at the moment "keeping the streets safe".... dont worry about the rising rate of violent crime or drink drivers. a low escort is a real threat!!!! /sarcasm

a few things that might help, 1) in this state you can spent the $8k on engineering your car, you can have that lil certificate framed and stuck on your bonnet but SAPOL WILL still defect you, you will get a fine for the defect, then have to book and pay to go to regency only to have them look over the car and if your lucky let you pay your way and leave. they can still find a leak here or there and make you come back for another inspection. so IMO untill laws are changed dont waste money or time engineering anything as your still gonna get total $400 fines and a headfreak out of it...

2) i mentioned this to russ, and if i was you i would get on ns.com etc and ask around about it as them boys know defects and how to get around them. anyways, i would register the car in russ name or say that you live at his house down south at seaford, get a signed certificate from your boss stating that you work large hours at awkward times and it is not feasible to make it all the way out to regency. this does take some hagling ive heard but has worked numerous times. they now send you to a lil poo poo joint in willunga where they only look at what defects you got, so ride hieght. tick that off and send you on your way hassle free.

i know i would be researching and trying to do number 2 there as much as possible because faaaaark taking all that poo poo off it :(

hope thats helped in someway mate!

cheers
Rhys

Thanks for the support Rhys.

Theres alot of truth to the fact that I cannot make it out to Regency. They're only open 8-4 Mon to Fri which is no good to me, especially at this time of the year, Im very busy with work.

I'll get the car back to roadworthy height and go from there.

On a side note, the car cannot be sold or have rego transferred whilst on defect -not that I'd consider selling it.

Rhys

you could " sell" the car to some one in the hills area and then take it to murray bridge inspection station. i got my car thru there first time and it was no gem.

its only one guy and he is only there one day a week. he just pointed out what needed to be fixed and then signed it off.

well definatly get a letter from your employer and say that it is too far/ too hard to make it out to regency, call em up and just play along those lines and maybe throw in a "its just a old escort" and they will definatly pass you off too the mclaren vale cop shop

Chin up mate! It's only a defect. I've just worked my way through a two and half page report and trust me my RS was in a lot worse position than yours!

What did the fantastic officer in blue tick? Is it full inspection? Remember that you are dealing with a scooter pig so they will send you to Regency 99% of the time.

My advice is to do what I did, put as much back stock as you can, ride height ain;t that hard unless you've done some serious mods? If you a worried about emissions go to ultra tune and get a vehicle emissions report as that will show the car complies to original specs re emissions and co levels etc.

A really good tip is to lie through your teeth and state that you are working in Murray Bridge, they have a VIS there but it;s a s**T load easier than regency.

As for doing nothing wrong it's irrelevant, RTA states that a cop can pull you over at any time to inspect for defects if he believes your vehicle doesn't comply. Mine got a full inspection also for ride height and then it got a lot worse cos it went to Regency and they just smashed it!.

Looking at yours it looks great so just go on in and see what happens. The guy that inspected mine at Murray Bridge was a Ford nut and had just built an RS capri so chin up, unlike scooter pigs they are not all ****s at the VIS.

Good luck. If you need stock wheels etc I can help, I'm also in SA.

Just stay away from Regency!

My cars officially 'roadworthy' once again.

Passed inspection first time.

Happy times now.

Rhys, Clarendon sounds good for a catch up.

Dave, ALOT of work went into getting the car passable, something I dont wish to do again. I'll be waiting until rego lapses before converting it back and then I think it will only come out for track days or the occasional day permit driving. Shiit laws and regulations mean its just not worth it anymore sadly.
I'd be keen to put my 96kws on track with your 300kws? Fair match?

Andrew, There is a new Vehicle Inspection Station at Lonsdale only just started doing Defect inspections, thats where I took it because its close.

Also for others interest, the car was passed running the UPC eBay brake kit and Adj Bias pedal box.

Also the inspector was great, not like the horror stories I've heard.

any of your boys keen for drift school?

$160 + $10 at the gate
free shed use
get a sit down tutorial
instructors come in car with you
teach you drills, "correct" use etc
and a few solid hours of free roaming drift prac

the way i see it, thats a bloody cheap day by any means for mallala. especially considering you get taught by the aussie G1 guys...

Rhys, you car would be great fun out there with that locker

dave, pull the fuse and put that power to good use!lol

the school is in around 2 months.....keen? get Glenn to get that old van of his rego'ed and go for a cruise to the pub one Sunday

Long time between updates, but not a lot has happened other than the occasional track day. Not really getting used but could never bring myself to sell it.
I fitted a cage and stripped out rear seat to be a bit more track orientated until the actual track car I'm building is done.

Last Mallala session I did in November 2014, came too close to having it written off to continue the track abuse so I will have to wait until I finish my other one before any more fun.
Also finished that day with a bent clutch fork and extractors fractured in two places - it has held up well up until now and these things are only minor.

When I have time I'll fix these issues and convert back to road rego.
