So .. I still live .. as does the car.
Been a while since I have updated this thread but the car has been soldiering on over at Gazspeed. The work done by Garry, whilst not glamorous stuff, has been instrumental in getting the car back on track to being a safe, reliable car that should perform well.
Garry has been tidying up the underneath of the floor, fixing some of the many inconsistencies left from the last clown, remade part of the roll cage, remounted the engine a bit higher, remounted the bootlid and turned the boot floor into what I wanted. Flat (mostly). Why the last guy got it into his head I wanted it to look like it had a fake drop tank is just beyond me let alone where he thought my shotgun exhausts were going to run. I guess once you have the customers money who needs approval for changes right?? Garry still has to add two small panels to the outer edges of the boot floor and then that area of the car is structurally finished. Will need some TLC down the track but as I am on a bit of a schedule it can wait. At least now the boot opens again properly and the gas struts function.
Seat mounts have been remade and the lower mounts for the 4 point harnesses have been added (as pictured).
Next job on the list is to check over the steering rack geometry and mount it properly. The car has an AU falcon column in it and the current mounts seem like placeholders so Garry is going to harden those suckers up. Following that will be refinishing the tunnel as now the box and bellhousing are too close.
Just btw the car is sitting as high as it can possible go so it was easier to move. Don't worry .. those big bags will be disappearing up under those wheel arches again later on.
Photos in order: boot floor flat and cell moved up 1 & 2, boot with hinges 1 & 2, under the boot floor 1 & 2, harness/seat mount, rear 1 & 2 minus drop tank thing and last pic for those who dont know is Garry from Gazspeed. I mostly posted this as he didn't want me to take it in the first place .... hence the look on his face. Hi Garry!
