I am a bit over the crap and it's a bit outside my skillset. I had done a bit of bogging... the pro had a look and stripped it all back out again lol. He fixed so much more in the metal that was previous bogged. We even moved the body line over the wheel arches this time.

A bunch of the photos were linked through dropbox, but then the software changed and they dropped off. Maybe I will do a catch up post at some point after it is painted. Depends on interest / motivation.
Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (Guest)

Wow,
I just had time to look through whole build. Pity the photos are no longer accessible.
(Does anyone know how long they stay up with the post?)
It was surely a monumental task and good on you for sticking with it.
Such a pity we are not all located near to each other to lend a helping hand and provide motivation/encouragement.

I bet there are things you did in the build, modifications etc, you probably forgot about when commencing this rebuild.
Mark
Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (deano)

are you painting it yourself Wattsy?
I'd be interested in the paint products used.

Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (Wattsy)

It's been back to bare metal and fixed a every panel, reshaped the stretched rear guards. The engine was hurt so it has been changed up as has the gearbox. The suspension, wheels and brakes are the same. I guess it's likely closer to a rebuild.
Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (Guest)

Is this a rebuild or cosmetic?
Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (Wattsy)

Still going
Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (Wattsy)

So dropbox has changed and you cant see a bunch of these photos. It's a great record of your build.
Congratulations on the rego, that's not easy with the amount of mods made and goes to show the quality of work that has gone into this car.
Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (Wattsy)

That's a good question and not one I have an answer to at the moment.

I have some changes I want to do to the fuel system and hopefully by then I have found somewhere to take it.

It needs the gaps done and a bunch of dent/filler work prior to paint. I might start work on the bonnet first now that the scoop has been cleared.
Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (escortinadriver)

Impressive stuff!

Congrats on the rego. Expensive for two alloy plates but worth it.

And they said I'd never make it. All engineered, regoed and insured. I could have gone full rego but between the rego and insurance the classic rego will saved me around $1400 annually. 60 days for me plus all the runs and meets that are "free".

Re:Wattsy's 1969 Capri (Wattsy)

There is a bonnet scoop under the new one that is pop riveted to the bonnet. The top section of the scoop has a wooden stringer along either side that is also pop riveted to the bonnet. There is no filler in there yet nor has it be finished at all. I was waiting for engineer to say it was okay and also giving it a good chance to shrink and do whatever it wants. It will get some filler and some love at some point.
