Mr Pinto should be in the car running. Hurry up! Any dramas I can help.

Haha, Cheers guys and thanks Mark for your kind offer. Gods know I could do with some help every now and then.
I have ordered a GRP4 top radiator panel and plain bottom panel from Fourd Performance (Paul T) to keep the 2L radiator modification nice and neat. I had a local guy lined up to weld it all in for me but his panel beater took another position today, leaving him with a massive work load. So a couple of weeks until that's done.
After that, no excuses

great little car didnt have to do much to get it looking good cant wait to build one for myself

Thanks John
Purchasing a well cared for car certainly helped me in that respect. Outlaying the extra cash for it suited me much better than the project route as I don't have the required skills, time or funds to start ground up.
Good luck with your build.
H.

Edit: I left the car at the body works today and should be back home by Fri. I'm looking forward to seeing the results

I found the 2L escort sump baffle was broken so my neighbour Keith cranked out his CIG welder this morning and fixed it up for me. Cheers Keith!

While the sump is off. Check the pick-up pipe for hairline cracks, the bracket that bolts the pick up to the block often cracks.

Thanks guys. It looks like it's been brazed. The sump baffle was brazed too but we ground it away before it got welded. Obviously it did SFA for the baffle, I hope it holds the pick up tube a bit better.
The second pic is the TF cortina pick up tube & bracket... A much better design.

The sump might be a little outta shape when you bolt it back to the block. That's why they bronzed it.
Use pleanty of goo around the sump gasket ends, corners of the rubber seals.

Throw the cork side rails straight into the bin and lay down a nice bead of threebond grey replacing the cork. Put a thin smear on the rubber end rails of loctite 515.

I have been doing it this way for years. It will never leak oil ever. Threebond pretty much glues the sump on.

Cork is dead!!

That sounds like a good way to do it. I'll give that a try if the sump leaks.
I got a bit done the past few days. Removed the crossflow, put in the MK2 engine cross member, installed the pivot spacer and attached gearbox to the pinto. Removed exhaust. Next is to run the fuel line over the diff and down passenger side chassis rail, change the generator wiring to alternator wiring and install the pinto!

Thanks mate. It certainly took some time and patience to get it in there. No damage to the lip around the heater bubble so a pretty good solo effort.
Everything about the pinto looks better. It fills up the engine bay and looks more at home.
Not all that much to do I just need the time to get out there. I'm going to take an old muffler into the exhaust shop, get them to flare the pipe so I can slip it over and clamp to the extractors. Then drive over to to finish the system.
This car is gonna fly, I can feel it in my bones.
